[Resolved in version 3.0.2] - Plugin exports TIFF instead of DNG | v3.0.0

I am having the same issue as a plugin for Photoshop Elements. The only fix is to uninstall and load v2.4.2?

You can uninstall and use our previous version of 2.4.2 or you can use Topaz Photo AI as a standalone application.

I have the same issue
Exporting TIFF instead of DNG
If I had to choose, I would rather use my post processing software to adjust light balance instead of sacrificing the DNG export

Topaz Photo AI 3.0 does not allow me to export DNG files back to Lightroom from my Sony A7RIV, A7IV and A6700. I need that capability. Seems like 3.0 is a step backward.

I am having the same issue. Agreed. If I cannot export to DNG back to Lightroom using the plugin, then this is a step back.

…The same problem for me, since I installed the latest update I just get tiff- exports.
Was checking the export-preferences but there is no way you can change the settings.
(Used Topaz photo ai 3.0 as a plugin from lightroom: ā€œprocess with topaz photo aiā€)
There must be a solution - worked fine with the last version…

I have the same problem with the Lightroom plugin. The export to Lightroom is only in TIFF format.
Unfortunately, with this error I cannot use Topaz 3.0.0 at the moment.

Upon using PhotoAI v3.0.0 standalone, I am unable to export to DNG when using an imported NEF and using lighting enhancements. If this is a limitation in v3.0.0, it should have been disclosed in the release notes. Topaz customers would never have been left to discover this on their own.

I can get DNGs as an output in the standalone with a NEF as input

plus 1 on the ā€œupgraded to v3 and it changed how it used to workā€ camp. A bit of a surprise. Looking forward to v3.0.1 that reverts and then please explain to us why we would want this as the default behaviour ???

Perhaps it might help topaz to know that for me, I’m really only here because the denoise AI inside LrC is far too slow to be used so I need a plugin. Thus for my Topaz is a LrC plugin, not really bothered about anything else it can do apart from help LR. Just adding my 2c.

If lighting enhancements have been made the image, output to DNG results in a TIFF.

Glad to report v3 is working correctly with On1 PhotoRaw 2024. TIFS are only returned if lighting or colour balance is applied.

I have imported a NEF image to PhotoAI v 3.0.0
After applying various enhancements, I attempted to export a DNG image. PhotoAI will only export a TIFF image.

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Import a .NEF file. (Nikon RAW image)
  2. Apply various enhancements (denoise, sharpen, adjust lighting, crop)
  3. Export a .DNG file

From Topaz concerning TIFFs instead of DNGs:
"We are aware of this behavior with the new update.

I have talked with some of the developers and learned that this change has allowed Adjust Lighting and Balance Color to be used with RAW files.

Currently, you can either process RAW files using Photo AI v3.0.0 as a stand-alone application to output DNGs or you can revert to Photo AI v2.4.2 to enable this option for the Lightroom Classic

The devs are working to enable the plugin for Lightroom to return a DNG normally in future updates and have the TIFF output only be used if Adjust Lighting or Balance Color is used."

Yet another release where I’ve had to revert to a previous one because Topaz screws things up

I have been using TPAI as a stand alone but find that it returns a file with massive color shifts. Totally not usable

Hi

If you process a file from Lrc as a DNG file to Topaz AI, the return file is a TIFF file—an unusable photo with strange oversaturated colours and massive noise. Process a RAW file returns as a TIFF file.

Photo AI should be returning a DNG file as set in its preferences.

So I cannot use this version, it is far too buggy and the results are not up to the usual Topaz standards. Disappointed, to say the least.
