As I had the problem, deinstall did not help, what you can try is use other version for SLm download trys, I heard 7.1 worked…then when download was succesfully, you can install newer version afterwards and in the installation wizward, when question prompts “older models found remove?” say no!
Issue still persists in 7.1.4
Is there way to download past versions?
Got it to work.
- Uninstall
- Delete lingering files
- Install 7.0.1
- Don’t update and install starlight mini, it will get stuck on “Complete”
- Restart
- Don’t update
- Utilize
Same problem with version 7.1.5. Starlight mini doesn’t even start download.
Is the computer-runing the hole night raly the only way?
Same problem with my purchase today of V7.1.5: It simply won’t download and install the Starlight Mini model files. I tried everything as described in this forum. After wasting 4 hours with dis-installing, re-installing, changing the model directories, trying to enhance a video (which ofcourse crashed immediately), I installed V7.0.1. Now it works (sort-of with enhancement speeds of only 0.1 fps)! It seems the model file is Zipped in V7.1.5. It is only 3.5 GB large. In V7.0.1. it is not a zip but 6 GB large. The bug must be related to the unzipping. It is infuriating and frustrating to note that this bug has been reported since around 20 July and now 3.5 months later still is not fixed. In view of my experience with the very buggy earlier Starlight online trials and bad UI, I have deep concern about the skills of their software developers. I would sack the lot of them! Topaz told me that no major updates are planned for the coming year. I guess they are trying to force us all to use their very expensive, subscription-only Starlight cloud service.
The thing with the zip file is badly solved. It depends on the internet connection and probably the Topaz server bandwith. I have the problem every time and then I just do nothing here just wait; let the computer run for hours, try again later, let it run overnight if necessary and could still install it that way every time. Before I have uninstalled and cleaned everything up and even deleted registry entries, but that doesn’t help…it just takes a lot of patience, just wait
Lee.phan’s workflow worked for me on Windows 11. First, I uninstalled Topaz Video AI v7.1.5 and downloaded and installed v7.0.1 from here: https:// community . topazlabs . com / t / topaz-video-ai-7-0-1 / 92017 .Then, followed the rest of the steps shared by Lee.phan, and had no issues downloading the Starlight mini model. Thank you for sharing this Lee.phan! Update: I have just updated to Topaz Video AI v7.1.5, and the Starlight mini model downloaded a new 3.5GB file (it was previously a 6GB file with v7.0.1). Everything seems to be working properly now.
