Photoshop Plug-in always re-download model files

When I edit an image in Photoshop and apply the filter “Topaz Labs → Topaz Photo AI”, a window appears with the message “Downloading Models - Some model files need to be re-downloaded before images can be processed”. The download then takes more than 15 minutes before the image can be processed.
What can I do to ensure that the model files are only updated when it is actually necessary and not every time the plug-in is invoked?

Topaz Photo AI [v2.2.1] on [Mac], Photoshop 2024 [25.3.1]

I’m having the same issues very frustrating. Sometimes it only takes 30 sec. sometimes 2-3 min. Why do I have to reload models every time I use the app?

@reiner.petersen Do you experience the same issue when you open an image directly using TPAI or only when using it via PS?

Every time when I invoke Topaz Photo AI via Photoshop. When opening an image directly with Topaz Photo AI, it is working immediately.

There is a setting, you can turn off model downloads but then you won’t get updates.

I wonder if this is a Mac issue? Some Mac users have found deleting all .plist files for Photo AI under Preferences cured the problem.

I never get this or your other problems and I’m using Photoshop but on Win11 pc.

If the issue only happens on Mac using the PS plugin and not when using it directly. Then I would assume the problem lies within the plugin.

Some Mac users have found deleting all .plist files for Photo AI under Preferences cured the problem.

Have you checked and removed these files?

Many thanks for the tip. I have deleted all …PhotoAI.plist files. Unfortunately without success.
When updating Topaz Photo AI to version 2.2.2, the model files were loaded within a few seconds. When I start the plug-in, it takes about half an hour to download the model files to be updated.

You should report this to Topaz support. Lots of Mac users are having problems.

Let’s try updating you to the most recent version release to see if this resolves the issue.

Please make sure you’ve also turned off any firewall, VPN, or proxy that may be on your computer. These are known to block the installation. Also make sure no settings configuration in your Windows system could be interfering.

Hi John,
After updating macOS Sonoma 14.3 Beta to Sonoma 14.3 and Photo AI to Version 2.3.0, the model files are no longer constantly reloaded when invoked by the Photoshop Plug-in. I don’t know which of the two has solved my problem. Now the Photoshop plug-in works in the same way as calling Photo AI directly. Thank you.
