Black and White File Fails to Export to Lightroom Classic

[Please describe your issue here. Try to include logs (Help → Logging) and add screenshots if necessary.]

Steps to reproduce issue:

1: Open sony Raw file ARW in LRC (Windows 11 Home 22631.3447) _ Edit it
2: Edit with PhotoAI (ver 3.0.0) from LRC (Convert to TIFF during export to PhotoAI)
3. Sharpen and Denoise -
4. Return to LRC ver 13.2 - CamRaw 16,2
5. Fails in LRC (See Scr shot) - Seems to happen all the time in BnW pictures?!?

Thank you for sharing this information and the screenshot.

This is a known issue that we are currently working on fixing.

In the meanwhile, I recommend this workaround:

  1. Change the Raw file from monochrome to color.
  2. Process with Photo > Edit in > Topaz Photo AI.
  3. Convert the output color file back to monochrome.

Let me know if that is working for you.

When I use Photo Ai with an image that I converted to B&W, it shows up in color in Photo Ai. Is this right? Shouldn’t I see the image in B&W on the Photo Ai screen? Thanks.

This has never worked in Topaz PhotoAI, but decided I was now frustrated enough to report it. When I try to sharpen or denoise a black and white image , the resulting file ALWAYS says “File not supported or file damaged”. I am using an olympus camera, and it fails with both the ORF files form the OM1 and the EM1-Mk2

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Edit an ORF file in Lightroom and convert to B&W
  2. Choose option to Edit in Topaz Photo AI
  3. Sharpen and save/export to Lightroom

Error 100% of the time
