I don’t use Photo AI on all of my photos, just reserved for problem areas. I have several recent photos where I’m trying to recover faces. Working from Lightroom Classic, I’ve tried Edit In Photo AI on a large number of photos over several days (even photos that are tack sharp) and, without fail, Photo AI shows 0 faces detected. I tested this on older photos on which I was previously able to recover faces, but get the same result. The program is up to date at v3.3.3.
