PC Keeps Shutting Down

Computer with 24gb vram keeps shutting down during video processing after update.

To better understand what could be causing this issue, could you please send over your app’s logs and system profile?

  1. To gather logs, please select Help > Logging > Get Logs for Support and attach the zip file to your reply.

  2. How To Obtain Your System Profile (Windows)

PSU ? GPU ? CPU ?

PC shuting down is typical overheat on CPU / overload on PSU.

VRAM is not at all overhelmed in TVAI

Same problem here. Video AI encoding drives up the temperature of the GPU until the computer just turns off.

The software is basically unusable.

Wel If you have t° issues you should rather focus it before flaming Topaz. This is not “pong”. It will load heavily CPU, RAM and GPU so … cool that things first

My setting that lives in air conditioned room performs way better that ambiant one

Also don’t forget to bench your RAM, it’s highly used and can easily crash everything.

Thanks for your reply. My system is as follows

Threadripper 3990X
64GB RAM
NVIDIA Titan RTX

I do lots of 3D rendering and haven’t had this issue before, hence why I think it is a software issue rather than an issue with my hardware. Looks like there was a low power mode in previous versions but this seems to have been removed.

Well, I also do 3D rendering (in my case with blender) and here Topaz make my CPU + GPU run hotter.

3990WX is said 280W TDP
RTX Titan is said 280W TDP

To me, your CPU need t° focus
I use a 2990WX an it is the t° problem, even more if I do encode + Topaz

In one point I follow you, the more release are, the less efficient and power consuming they become

I’ve been experiencing random shutdowns since 5.3.3 with no clear explanation. My fans are not speeding up at all prior to shutdown and my temps are normal.

In previous releases, this only happened when I ran All GPUs, and on restart I got a POST message telling me that a PCI error had occurred. This time it’s happening with single GPU, and there’s no POST message on restart.

Going to try reverting to previous build and seeing what happens.

I am using MSI afterburner to limit the temperature of the GPU to 80 degrees. It has helped as the turning off is less frequent, but the software can only process a couple of 10 second clips before turning off.

I removed 5.3.3 last night and reinstalled 5.3.2. Completed a 3.5 hr 4X Rhea upsample without a shutdown. Will try something longer tonight.

My shutdown issue doesn’t seem to affect 5.3.2 or the latest 5.3.4.4b beta. Ran 12hr 4X Rhea upsamples on both with no problem.
