With “Start in comparison view” disabled, the left view should immediately present the first frame of the video, but the view is obstructed by the overlay. Toggling “A/B view” on and off restores a clear visual.

I would think, this is with us for a long time and has been mentioned by others on the forum several times. I got use to it, because I know the workaround.
