Opening Nikon NEF RAW files color way off

This has been the case for awhile, but opening a Nikon RAW file (.NEF) the colors are way off. Very magenta and aqua.

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Right click on .NEF file in Finder
  2. Open in “Topaz Photo AI”
  3. Colors way off

Also has the same problem if opening from Nikon’s NX Studio application. Screenshots included.

Would you mind sending in some more information to get a better understanding of the problem you are having with this particular type of image? Please send the following information:

  1. The original image file.
  2. The processed image.
  3. A screenshot or description of the settings panel so I can see what adjustments were turned on.

Thank you for responding back!

I uploaded

  • Original RAW file (.NEF extension from Nikon).

  • Screenshot of what the .NEF file looks like when I right-click on the file in Finder and Open in Topaz Photo AI.

  • Exported image after Topaz Photo AI did whatever it did (I adjusted nothing manually). This automatically exported into a .DNG file where the colors look better than in the Topaz screen from above.

  • Screenshots of the Autopilot settings in Preferences.
