Since the latest update a few days ago I am unable again to use the product offline. This happened before and was resolved. Can someone please look at it again. When I try to use it offline I just get a message that my subscription has expired. When I use it online the status of my account is correct. Thanks.
Can you send the logs to the support team for review? Help@topazlabs.com
The newer app Topaz Video is not meant to work completely offline and does need to reconnect every so often to verify your license. This could be causing part of your issue if the app is having the authentication token cleared prematurely.
Hi - I have used the app online and then went offline immediately afterwards and as soon as I do that I just get the subscription prompt. I have tried this as recently as 5 minutes ago. Up until the latest update I had no problem using Studio offline. I prefer to use the app offline to edit family videos etc and if I’m not going to be able to do that then surely that should be clarified before purchasing the product.
@kyle.topazlabs, I have the same issue as @james.kyle
just tested it twice yesteday after updating the app, and today.
if I turn off my modem, Bam, subcribtion invite.. see below. I thought of a possible “issue” yesterday, so i came online again today. login again… I stop internet, and almost immediatly, the subsbription message appears.
I tried 4 times already, like james..
so i must use the “legacy” Video Ai version instead…
i’m not even speaking about I tried the cloud rendering yesterday for the first time, and was getting all the time a “cloud” error… I tried the upscaling using the web app and it’s working… so why ?? ![]()
1520 credits..
The devs were looking into some cloud processing issues affecting some models and trying to get things sorted out. The holidays have definitely caused some issues with some staff out. Did you run the same files through the web app interface with the same model choices?
no, on the web app, it was focus, while locally it’s Iris.
my main big issue is this offline problem, can you confirm if this is an issue and will be fixed or a “new feature” where offline are not possible anymore ?
I’m 99% of the time offline… i’m sure you can understand that it’s bigger than an issue, as i’ll not be able to use the software anymore except the legacy one, and after 5 years (6), it will be the end of the road with topaz for me if it’s confirmed. thx.
The new releases of Topaz Video will not be supporting offline usage within the regular workflows due to changes that are being made in how the app runs. Some of this is still be working out and a full statement with more clarity will be getting released in the near future to explain everything.
*** censored ***
what do you mean by regular workflow ? i mean, i’m just using proteus and iris and the interpolation feature, nothing else.
so even the most basic thing will forbidd the use of the app offline too ? or i must tell bye bye forever to topaz after 5 years ? (and i helped a lot during the dev of 2.x and 3.x (ask Suraj
)..
With that use case you could easily get away without the subscription plan and simply keep using your existing perpetual license.
There weren’t (and likely also won’t be) improvements to those legacy models in the „Studio“ apps.
With only those two models even the old 5.3.6(?) could be the best version over all (avoiding the VFR bug).
If offline use is not supported then at the end of my current subscription I will leave Topaz and just use the legacy version I paid for which does work offline. I think Topaz are making a mistake with ending offline use and I hope they reconsider before my subscription is due for renewal.
Just so that everyone is aware, the CLI (which does still work at the moment*) DOES NOT need to be online. Due to the way the Topaz authentication works, my understanding is that the authentication token stored on your machine is valid for about 1 month until or unless it’s “refreshed” by going online. All this is no secret - it’s shown in the text output by their own ffmpeg build.
So you can use the Topaz ffmpeg via the CLI OFFLINE in that period. Beware though - things could quickly change for the worse at any time as soon as you go back online.
* I have a personal licence with founder status. I can’t be sure if the CLI will work with a personal licence if you don’t have founder status. Perhaps someone would be able to confirm that either way?
Andy
I got an information that it’s possible that offline will work again in the near future versions with an online check every week (as opposed to montly check before). if it’s confirmerd, it would be better than nothing. we’ll see.
the error persist, tried to have a video processed in the cloud few seconds ago ![]()
then, it crashed… then launched again the software, did it a second time, and before processing it to cloud, it crashed again lol…
Maybe it’s because Iris is not available as cloud processor ?

Can you send me the request ID or the logs to look into this? We have been investigating some issues with some of the GAN models in the cloud over the past few weeks. help@topazlabs.com
I wouldn’t care if there was a weekly validation with offline or even a daily validation but if there’s no offline at all then I won’t continue my subscription.
same! we’ll see in the next releases !
from what i see from the log, it seems there is an issue with the video, but anyway, just sent the 2 last crash to the support e-mail thanks !
I appreciate that Topaz management like to keep their own support staff in the dark as much as their customers, therefore making your job more difficult than it should be. However, please can I ask for as much clarity as you can give on this offline issue, as your response here implies the change is intentional, which appears to be at odds with a more recent reply which implies it’s a bug:
I appreciate that new information may have come to light between your two replies.
Thanks.
Andy
I just installed the latest update and that hasn’t fixed the offline issue. Disappointing. I had to use the legacy version again. To be honest the legacy version is ample for my needs but I like to support Topaz. However unless offline use is restored before my subscription ends then that will be the end for me. I haven’t gave up hope yet though.
Since the latest updates, I can no longer use Topaz Video AI offline, which is a huge problem for me since I use it on a laptop that I’m often away from home and without an internet connection. If I’m offline, it asks me to authenticate or pay again. That’s not possible, I use it locally, not in cloud, and I’ve even disabled the cloud. Why can’t I use it offline? It’s 80% useless for me if I can’t use it offline.
The problem occurs even though I have already logged in and authenticated previously.
