New UI for Topaz Video AI 4 is (at best) confusing, or (seemingly more likely) broken?

[If you are posting a new bug, please include the following]

  1. The bug / behavior you have encountered – There does not appear to be a way that I can view the original image (from the original video file) side-by-side with the upscaled version. I have tried clicking the three dots on the left pane and choosing “Set to Original,” bit nothing changes in the image.
  2. Your system profile – MacBook Pro (Apple M1 Pro), 16 GB Memory, macOS 14.0 (23A344)
  3. Your log files (Help > Logging > Get Logs for Support) – N/A
  4. Any screenshots as necessary

looks like your view two window hasn’t been processed? The timeline seems to change colors in the part of the video where the preview is if it’s done correctly. I’m also finding it a bit confusing

I probably should have mention that I tried that, but it looked no different. (I deleted the preview while I was troubleshooting.)

I have the same problem with the Windows version.

I had similar issues with the new update. Topaz needs to create a how-to video for this update on its website and YouTube channel. I noticed that previewing while the software is processing no longer works. I reached out to the developers and they said there will be adjustments in the next update to resolve this issue.

Here’s a quick screen recording showing the process for enabling a filter and generating a preview. After reviewing this preview, you could switch to the other view and select another model to compare.

We’re working on a tutorial series and updated documentation for Video AI, including workflow examples for the Direct Comparison UI.
