Lightroom plug-in issues

There are two issues with using the Lightroom plug-in.

When the image is returned to LR as a dng, the process version is always 1. The current process version is 6. It is easy to change, but I shouldn’t have to do that.

The returned image is not placed into the collection that was current when the plug-in was invoked. As an example, I have a collection set called “2023” and a collection called “Vancouver”. When the dng is returned from Photo AI, it is not in the Vancouver collection but in the 2023 collection set (I didn’t even know that was possible and it seems like LR shouldn’t allow that.).

These two issues have been around for several months, and I hope you will fix them soon.

You’ll probably have to provide a bit more info (camera model, operating system, TPAI version, LR version, etc), because this isn’t happening to everyone. I’ve used Nikon and Sony raws and the returned dngs are always using the latest process version.

What type of collections are “2023” and “Vancouver”? “2023” sounds like it would be setup as a smart collection.
AFAIK only images that are sent for external editing via “Edit In” are added to a regular collection automatically, because LR creates the file that will be edited and saved to, before sending it to the external editor.

Glad you asked me the first question. I should have given you that information.

Both LR and TPAI are current and running on fully patched Windows 11. I did a little test just now, and the process version is occurring on images from my Nikon Z8. This does not happen with my D850. I think I first reported this issue when I got the Z8 (I was an early adopter) and it was happening before you and Adobe fully supported the Z8.

Regarding the collections. ln my example above “2023” is a collection SET and “Vancouver” is a collection that is a member of the 2023 collection set. Hope that clarifies. The image shows up if I select the entire collection set, but if you right click on the image and hover over “go to collection” it says it is not a member of any collection.

If there some place else I should be reporting this to get it to the developers?

This is the correct forum for bugs, but I’m just a customer like you.

I’ve tried sending a Nikon Z8 raw from LR and the returned dng had the process version automatically set to 6. I can only suggest that you check that “Use Adobe DNG SDK for export” has been enabled in the TPAI preferences.

Regarding the collections issue, I don’t think the plugin has any influence over LR collections. Everything is controlled by LR itself (maybe a dev could confirm that).
