[KNOWN ISSUE] AE and Resolve plugins broken in v6.2

Some backend changes in the latest release of version 6.2.0 have caused the plug-ins to experience issues.

The team is working on a resolution at this time.

Current recommendation is to use the app as a Stand-Alone or roll back to your previous version of the app that was working for you.

EDIT

You can also reinstall Video AI v6.2 and uncheck to install the OFX plug-in and that will resolve the issue as well.

You can get the previous installers from the Video AI releases - community page.

I upgraded to Video AI 6 from 5 today and it immediately stopped my DaVinci Resolve Studio 19 from loading. It had been working fine before, and with Video AI 5. Deleting the Video AI OFX plugin files solved the issues.

Using the latest Version of Video AI Plugins DaVinci Resolve Crashes on start. Removing the Folders
Topaz Video AI.ofx.bundle and Topaz Video AIframeinterpolation.ofx.bundle is a temporary workaround so that Resolve and Fusion do start again.

Are you using version 20 of DaVinci resolve? That may be the problem. Another post recommended this:
Search the folder called “Plugins” in the path “C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX” and rename the folder to “OFX Davinci ”. I can now run Resolve 20.0 Beta with no issues.

This happens with Resolve 19 and Resolve 20 for me.

Same problem for me - Resolve 19. Renaming C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins (which was installed by Topaz) to …\Plugins.tmp will allow Resolve to startup while still allowing Video AI 6 to run as a stand-alone application.

Hi Mike thank you for reaching out. We produce underwater videos and therefore do not use beta software at all. So 19.1.4 is the installed version. The solution you describe works for sure since it results in not loading ANY OFX plugins at all. Not even the original Resolve plugins. So this can only be a temporary solution since the problem is fixed. Regards Martin and a hello from south germany

Hi Hans, you described the solution correct just keep in mind that there can be more plugins with different origins than topaz … all those would be unavailable … best regards martin

This is a known issue that the team is working on resolving as quickly as they can.

The current recommendation is to roll back to version 6.1.3 if you are wanting to use the plugin, otherwise removing the OFX plugin from the shared folder will allow Resolve to launch without issue and Video AI to be used as a stand-alone option.

Hi, these daVinci resolve plugin problems crashing Resolve are known to and acknowledge by Topaz labs now for about half a year. Would you agree that it is about time to fix this? In my most current installation of both products the Topaz Video AIframeinterpolation.ofx.bundle is the culprit, Topaz Video AI.ofx.bundle works.

Kyle,

Adding my voice to the AI 6 upgrade OFX misery with DVR.

Sooner is better.

[If you are posting a new bug, please include the following]

  1. The bug / behavior you have encountered
I cannot load DaVinci Resolve whilst Topaz Video/Photo AI is installed.

  2. Your system profile
    Windows 10

  3. Your log files (Help > Logging > Get Logs for Support)

  4. Any screenshots as necessary

I have to uninstall Topaz Video/Photo AI then DaVinci Resolve works again.
Please test & fix.

This is a known issue, removing the OFX plugin will resolve this and allow DaVinci to load without issue.

And how do you suggest we remove the OFX plugin? Where is it located?
How long is it going to take to solve this?
Again we are the Beta Testers!

If you are on a Windows system:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins\Topaz Video AI.ofx.bundle

If you are on a Mac system:

Library > OFX > Plugins

I do not have a confirmed timeline of when this will be ready but the team is working on the patch now.

it is likely already known that the current plugins for Topaz Video AI are not compatible with the latest beta for Davinci Resolve but adding it here anyway.

The latest push of Davinci Resolve will crash during startup on Windows if Topaz Plugins are found in C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Plugins

This is confirmed by other users in Blackmagic Forum • View topic - Windows 11 ; 20b1 will no longer start

Removing them clears the issue. Uninstall of Resolve and reinstall will not clean this up, removing the plugins manually fixes the issue

Best regards Martin

Topaz Team, when will this issue be fixed, please ?

There is a current test being run to resolve this that we hope to release shortly once it is confirmed to work on both Mac and PC systems
