I have the same experience.
P.S. Large modern Zoos are beautiful places. But sometimes one needs to be lucky so that the photo-model is not hidden or has her back turned at the right moment. And there is also a legitimate question: Do people go to see animals, or (perhaps, rather?) are people shown to animals?
Well, it’s the people who come to see them. And the park is still growing. A few years ago, the park welcomed 2 giant pandas. They gave birth to 2 cubs, and earlier this year, the cubs returned to China.
And yes, red pandas are often hidden. So it’s hit-or-miss to see and photograph them
.
Usually, I see them on the ground or on their perch at eye level. But here, they were a good 5-6 meters off the ground. If not higher. In short, you had to look up hahaha.
I recently had an M1, M2 and M4 Pro. I have upgraded to an M4 max and don’t recall the last time I had this issue.
It looks to be an M3 issue only so far.
Also @unrelent for the prompt, I use Google Gemini. It’s really efficient.
Here’s an example of the photo I’m redefining.
Overall, you can see a general prompt and then a more precise prompt without the 2 red pandas for use in Gigapixel.
I was intrigued to read that you found Redefine Creativity 3 faster than Creativity 2.
I can indeed confirm this. My test image was taken on a fairly basic digital camera more than 20 years ago and upscaled x1.83 to 4k. Here are the results at 100%:
Creativity 1: approx 20m
Creativity 2: approx 39m
Creativity 3: approx 16m.
Recover v2 beta, with detail set to the default @75: 1m17s
FWIW, I did some performance testing with my Macbook Pro M1 Pro 10/16 and Ryzen 7 7700 + RTX4070 Super PC.
MacOS - M1 Pro 10/16 32GB
Image A
- Recover 4x 75% - 3m32
- Redefine 4x 1100 - 5m50
Image B
- Recover 2x 75% - 16m14
- Redefine 4x 1100 - 25m11
Image C
- Recover 2x 75% - 17m29
- Redefine 4x 4300 - 40m49
Windows - Ryzen 7 7700, RTX4070 Super
Image A
- Recover 4x 75% - 26s
- Redefine 4x 1100 - 21s
Image B
- Recover 2x 75% - 1m15
- Redefine 4x 1100 - 1m10
Image C
- Recover 2x 75% - 1m23
- Redefine 4x 4300 - 1m19
I know that the RTX4070 is very fast compared to an M1 Pro 10/16. Still, I think the differences are huge and the gap is much wider than you’d think.
Do the results look the same on the Mac and the PC?
It is certainly frustrating for us Mac people. However, Recovery v2 will be significantly faster, and it can only be hoped that the devs will find a way to speed up Redefine as well, since it achieves way better results!
I imagine Recover Beta v2 and a Gigapixel Beta version. Is that right?
In your test photo, I prefer the final result with creativity at 2. It preserves details better. On the others, they’ve changed a bit.
Visually they seem identical. I could rerun a test and subtract the outputs to see if there’s any visible difference.
I assume v8.3 will be out soon.
In many respects I prefer Creativity 1. Look at what I think are cutout figures of people in traditional Chinese dress. This is at 200%:
Creativity 1
Creativity 2
Creativity 3 turns them into elephants!
Mostly, given that it’s faster, I am using Creativity 1 on these old photos. Every so often, elements like grass or gravel in the foreground are rendered poorly, and I find I can improve them using Creativity 2 along with some text prompts.
