DIdn’t we used to have a setting in one of the apps to turn off auto-preview when moving the view around?
You’re probably right. Well… it depends on the software manufacturer when it shows/doesn’t show what’s going on in the dark behind the curtain while the application is running. Gigapixel boasts that it searches for faces, which is supposed to give the user a good impression of usefulness – perhaps, statistically speaking, the most common are photos with faces in them (not just those produced by portrait photographers). A lot of other things are not mentioned (which is undoubtedly good, because the user’s interest is in the final appearance of the photo, not in detailed knowledge of the steps that lead to it). And sometimes it’s useful to tell something, to make it seem like the processing is going smoothly and hopefully and is aiming for the result (hence the various time indicators and rotating wheels, hourglasses, etc. – but that’s boring and worn out).
But I believe that if I were to hypothetically enhance a thousand photos of storks, I wouldn’t be excited to read a thousand times that Gigapixel is looking for faces to enhance again and again (I think that, unlike cats
!, there’s no such thing as a face
in storks – even though the head, eyes, and beak should be perfect in the photo!).
I DMed you with an example of differences observed.

Could be. It sounds reasonable. But that’s one I don’t honestly remember. You’ve got a good memory!
Indeed!
(closest I could find
)
Great! I’ve been looking in vain for something like this. A stork or a flamingo – no face to improve!
Love the new Gigapixel! I would like to see added to Gigapixel as a new feature. Would be nice to be able to mask areas to generate character faces. Example video below of what I’m talking about.
Phew, an AI that thinks inside our heads, that’s going to be complicated. But an AI in the style of Star Trek, that would be so cool. (Yes, I like Star Trek
).
Damn, AI isn’t free. But the quality of the upper scale rendering is truly insane.
Super cool example, and a great idea! Stay tuned. ![]()
