Gigapixel 7 Installed but not opening

Some thing here…installed newest version 18/1 and now GP isn´t opening as a stand-alone nor as a plug-in for PS

Just adding my name to the list of folks having installation problems with Gigapixel 7.0.0 - seems to install but won’t launch. It did break my previous install of 6.3.3… that won’t run either. Was hoping for a quick ‘update/back to work’ but …no…
Oh bother.

I too was having trouble with v.7.0 not opening. I followed the procedure outlined by justin.topazlabs and it seems to have worked. This, however, is an unacceptable workaround. As (relatively) simple as the procedure is, it should not have to be followed just to update a program which we all have paid for. But I’m sure the folks at Topaz Labs know this and are diligently wiping the egg off their collective faces :grinning:.

Same problem here. Followed all of the above advice - even then not straightforward - but eventually succeeded.

I was using version 6.3.3 and got prompted by the app to upgrade to version 7.0.

After upgrading, Topaz Gigapixel would not start. I first tried starting it using the Adobe LR plugin, and it failed. Then I tried to start it standalone (“C:\Program Files\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Gigapixel AI\Topaz Gigapixel AI.exe”) but that did not help. Also tried to start it as administrator, same result.

I am running a Windows 11 system, if that matters.

It would be nice to get clear instructions from Topaz how to remedy this issue.

I followed the instruction provided by justin.topazlabs (“Delete the Topaz Gigapixel AI folder from the default installation path - C:\Program Files\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Gigapixel AI”, edit Registry, download fresh installer).
After doing that I get a different failure:

“Topaz Gigapixel AI Setup Wizzrd ended prematurely
Topaz Gigapixel Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified…”

Getting a little frustrated.

I’m relieved to see I’m not the only person with this problem.

Oddly enough, when I install 7.0.0, I also see a ghost version of 6.1.0 in the installed apps list (Win11). When I attempt to uninstall it, Windows says there’s nothing there. There’s also nothing in RegEdit.

G’day All - so I did what justin.topazlabs suggested - a complete uninstall, clear the program files and reg editor of all Gigapixel files as well. Reinstalled V7.0 and it started straight away. While we shouldn’t have to do this, it is a fix - well for me at least.

Worthwhile giving it a go - but, Topaz Labs, DO BETTER!

Justin, for what it’s worth, I have tried exactly this approach with no success.

Same for me. V7.0.0 installs, but will not open or run. It did not launch after installation and any click on the ikon results in nothing.
The same did happen to me for previous versions of Photo AI. The new version, however, did install and is running.

No, not everyone is affected. This is affecting Windows users who previously had earlier versions of Gigapixel AI installed. We are monitoring this situation, however, we have found that clearing the specific registry entry has resolved all cases of this behavior.

@ohrdio
Sounds like you may be experiencing another issue, can you please clear the registry entry one more time and reboot your machine prior to attempting to open 7?

I just installed the new version of Gigapixel 7.0.0 but the program doesn’t start up anymore. I.ve uninstalled it once and installed it again. By finishing the install, I activate launche by finishing, but it didn’t start up. What’s the problem?

I’m having the same issue. Windows 10 machine, all prior versions worked fine. Now I can’t get it to open. Tried to repair, uninstall and reinstall, still no luck.

Same here. I have completely uninstalled it and am re-installing 6.3.3. In case you need a download, here is a link: Gigapixel AI v6.3 - Updated upscaling models, better artifact removal control, and lots of performance/stability improvements
Unfortunately this is not the first time that TOPAZ have released a buggy software version that does NOTHING. In future I will wait with updates.

Hi Rudiger,
Thank you for your reply. But it doesn’t work for me, the link shows only the new version 7.0.0.

You will find a link to 6.3.3 here. Note that only SOME PC users are experiencing issues with v7.0.0. It works perfectly on my Mac.

I had the same problem and after contacting Topaz support this is what worked for me. Hopefully Topaz will fix the Gigapixel 7 installer to perform all the necessary actions:

  1. Un-install
  • Go to C:\Program Files\Topaz Labs LLC and delete Gigapixel AI folder if there is one
  • Go to C:\ProgramData\Topaz Labs LLC and delete Gigapixel AI folder if there is one
  1. Open the program RegEdit from your Start menu explorer and delete the registry entries of Topaz Gigapixel AI, if there are still any, in:
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Gigapixel AI
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Gigapixel AI

  2. Re-install with Gigapixel 7.

  • Download the software from: Topaz Labs Download Page
  • Reboot your computer. Install the program without any other applications running
  • Open the program as a standalone first to make sure it’s working for you

@AiDon is correct, this issue only affects those of us who had previous Gigapixel versions installed. While this is a frustrating issue, it is one we did not encounter during testing and we are still working to understand the specifics behind the issue.

Did the steps provided solve this issue for you?

I am having the same issue. I have plenty of graphics memory as this machine is used daily for graphic design and videography. I have tried opening regularly, as administrator and through PS. It just simply refuses to open. I also have all of my software and drivers updated.
