Using a new MBP M4max, with 48 GB RAM, 1 tb SSD, I took a 75mb Tiff file: enlarged 2x, adjusted lighting, denoised at 100% extreme, sharpened at re-focus 100%. It was 2x faster that the M1Pro with 16GB Ram, 512 GB SSD: 1min, 2 sec(m4Max) vs 2 min 6 sec(m1Pro)
The fans did not appear to run with the m1Pro, but the mac used 22 GB RAM drawing more than 6 GB in swap from the SSD. Memory pressure was in the yellow and spike a few times into the red.
With the M4Max, while the memory pressure was in the yellow, it never spiked into the red, it only swapped about 200 mb, and never drew more RAM than was actually available.
Preview on the M4Max was done before I was done typing it in; preview was twice as long
