Error with WMV file

I was trying to upscale a WMV file from the National Archives (https://catalog.archives.gov/id/39142?objectPanel=transcription) with the settings in the attached screenshot.

I am getting the attached error.

Could it be a problem with my hardware/CPU? I have issues with this on another level, and it would give me more to argue when I am going to visit the Apple Store next week.

logsForSupport.zip (703.6 KB)

I doubt the Apple Store will provide much help for an old Microsoft format that MacOS doesn’t natively support, and requires a third party player for playback.

I was able to upscale a section of that file in TVAI on Win10.

Seeing 2 errors. A permission issue and an issue likely caused by the audio track in the wmv file.

For the permissions issue:

Error opening input file /Volumes/G-DRIVE/Content Archiv/3rd Party/Geschichte - Politik/US .gov Public Domain/archives.gov (nara)/31471.wmv.

Please make sure that the export path you are writing out to is readable and writable by Topaz Video AI and that the path exists.

Try adding Video AI to the list of apps with ‘Full Disk Access’ in the macOS System Settings and restarting the app after:

If this does not work, please proceed to a clean install which should reset the app’s permissions.

If you have any custom presets saved, you will want to copy them over to a different folder (e.g. desktop) as they will get deleted when you uninstall.

Applications > Topaz Video AI > right click and Show package contents > Contents > Resources > Presets

  1. Uninstall Topaz Video AI by dragging and dropping the app into the trash bin
  2. Delete the plist files & empty the trash bin
How To Delete Your Plist Files. Here is a screen recording on this step, just in case you need it.
  3. Reboot your Mac
  4. Reinstall

For the wmv related error, try changing the audio mode to ‘convert’

Let me know how that goes!
