Enhance subject masking enhances whole image

When altering “subject” using the circular mask tool to identify an area for enhance the software ignores the mask and enhances to entire image. Photos uploaded shows before and after images where I used the tool to select only the sea foreground… I use the circular mask tool as your Ai feature for finding a subject stopped functioning after an earlier update. regards
