Topaz Photo AI v3.1.0 on Windows
Let’s try updating you to the most recent version release to see if this resolves the issue.
Please make sure you’ve also turned off any firewall, VPN, or proxy that may be on your computer. These are known to block the installation. Also, make sure there are no settings or configurations in your OS system that could interfere.

I think I figured it out.
I use Starlink with intermittent drops in connectivity.
Might there be a way to download and use models offline?
And yes I did install the latest. Thank you.
This is the failure point.
Found this on reddit. Does this look like a viable solution?

I know this is an old post but Google led me here regarding “Internet Connectivity Errors.” I’m sure others will come here looking for a solution this is how I fixed on my pc. Seems like the error occurs due to packet loss. I was able to fix it by flushing the dns and resetting the winsock.
To flush dns, open Terminal as an administrator and type “ipconfig /flushdns” without the quotes. And to reset winsock, in the same terminal window type “netsh winsock reset” without the quotes then restart the computer.
Hopefully, this will fix the error for you as well.
Nope, that didn’t work.
It looks like I can’t get past the internet connectivity issue.
I want to get some more information to troubleshoot the problems you are facing during the installation process. Please follow the directions below:
First, please disable antivirus, firewall, VPN, or proxy that may be on your computer. These are known to block the installer from downloading the model files. Then, please follow the below instructions to get the installer log for Topaz Photo AI.
This should show me exactly what is happening in the installer that is blocking the internet connection if the issue isn’t any of the above security applications.
You can securely submit your files(s) to my Dropbox using the link below.
Please be sure to send me a note here to let me know you sent something.
Thanks John,
Followed the instructions.
Antivirus, firewall, VPN, and proxies disabled.
Also reset Starlink.
No dice.
Log file uploaded.
Fingers crossed.
Are you able to try a different internet source such as a hotspot? Sometimes while using Starlink a sudden drop in connection will disrupt the model download process.
Will bring my cpu into town and try there.
Thanks John.
Hey John,
Finally made it to an internet connection in town.
Download instraller still failed … but … when launching Topaz and importing image it was able to download all the models.
So success!
I then bought and downloaded gigapixel but see it’s pretty much the same as upscale in photo AI. Is that indeed the case?
Both Photo AI and Gigapixel can upscale an image to 6x, or 32,000 pixels on the longest side, however, they serve different purposes, each utilizing unique AI models.
Photo AI is an all-in-one photo enhancement app designed for professional photographers (or pro-summers). It combines sharpening, noise reduction, upscaling, face recovery, text recovery, remove tool, lighting correction, and color balance. Autopilot will help evaluate what enhancements are needed, and these selections can be manually fine-tuned for more precise control.
Gigapixel is explicitly built for upscaling, particularly with low-quality or highly compressed files in mind, including face recovery and gamma correction. It offers an expanded offering of upscaling models not included in Photo AI, such as lines, very compressed, and recovery. These specialized models make Gigapixel ideal for users needing upscale images for large-scale print or high-resolution web display. While both apps offer upscaling, Photo AI provides a broader range of photo enhancement tools, ideal for high-quality images. In contrast, Gigapixel is focused on upscaling and recovering lower-quality images geared for print and display.
Take a look at our Photo AI vs. Gigapixel web page for a more comprehensive breakdown.
