[Double Denoise] - Adding denoise twice causes issues with selections

Dear support team, For quite some time I have issues with your very nice enhancements. I could provide screen casts, but I cannot upload them.

Scenario: I would like to have the same enhancement applied several times with different selections:

  • Denoise: Background
  • Denoise: Subject

When I try to do this, weird things happen. Changing the selection of one of the enhancements has an effect on the other one. Same applies also for Sharpen. Others I have not tried. The selection of one of them reverts to custom or nothing.

Steps to reproduce issue:

1 Load a picture
2 Add Denoise enhancement
3 Add Denoise enhancement
4 Edit selection of first Denoise to Background
5 Edit selection of second Denoise to Subject
6 Selection of first Denoise is set to Custom and nothing is selected
7 Play around with the selections. Sometimes they are kept, sometimes not
see screencasts enclosed

It gets worse when I try to save this setup as a preset. The selection is broken after applying the preset.

1 Load a picture
2 Add Denoise enhancement
3 Add Denoise enhancement
4 Edit selection of first Denoise to Background
5 Edit selection of second Denoise to Subject
6 Play around with the selections until they are correct
7 Click Save edits as new preset - name “Denoise Denoise”
8 Remove all enhancements
9 Add preset “Denoise Denoise”
10 result: at least one of the selections of the the two enhancements is broken

This has bothering me now for a very long time, like a year or more. Your software is great, but such small hickups reduce the value of it. Thanks for considering my findings.

Regards, Marc

I’ve posted similar problem previously eleven days ago!

try restarting and turning everything in the background off. I have done all these things on an M1Pro 16gb running 14.6.1 Sonoma and have not had any issues. It be somehting running in the background.

Please take a screen recording of this behavior so I can see exactly what is happening.

Hi John, sure:

Thanks for sharing those examples. I will be sure to reach out to the development team for further investigation.

Thanks John! This is much appreciated.

I’ve talked with the team and we would like to see if updating to the most recent version will resolve this issue for you as the team has been working on this problem!
Please make sure you’ve also turned off any firewall, VPN, or proxy that may be on your computer. These are known to block the installation. Also, make sure there are no settings or configurations in your OS system that could interfere.

Thanks John, for your effort. The update has solved part of the issue. I have contacted the help mail address and provided new screen recordings.

Hello,

We are still investigating this issue on our side, it seems that version 3.3.1 did not resolve it.

This topic was automatically closed after 60 days. New replies are no longer allowed.

Hello. Windows 11, Photo AI standalone version 3.3.0

I’ve attached three pictures to show the problem better than I can describe in words.

1 Load picture. Select Denoise, Auto Selection, Background . (Mask is correct. So good so far.)
2 Select a second Denoise, Auto Selection, Subject. (Mask seems correct but…)
3 When I click on Edit Selection you can see that Background mask is displayed and not Subject.

If I add a third Denoise and select Custom it displays a Background mask.

Previous versions didn’t have the above problems.

Hi, same problem here!

How to replicate this bug:

1 - Create an Adjust Lighting layer with custom mask
2 - Create a Color Balance layer
3 - Create another Adjust Lighting with custom mask

You’ll have 50% of chances to be unable to edit the second mask because TPAI will try to edit the first one.

If you really want to reproduce this bug, add another Adjust Lighting layers with custom masks until it appears.

Keep the good work, but please fix this because it’s pretty unusable like it is now (at least for my needs).

Hello Michel.

I’ve updated to 3.3.1 and it seems to have cured it for me. I hope it works for you.

Regards Bob.

Hi Robert,

You are totally right!
So far, so good…

Thank you.
Best regards.

We are still investigating an issue happening in presets with 2 denoise enhancements. This thread was added to the open development team ticket.
