DeNoise AI 2.2.12

It will be choose openvino after reset.

On my system I can drive the calibration routine to choose either GPU or OpenVINO by simply selecting a different value for Allowed Graphics Memory first. Low values use the CPU and high values use the GPU.

@AiDon: I wasn’t sure if this suggestion was aimed at my report or not. If so, I wanted to mention that I reported this to ā€˜support’ at the main website when I first found it in 2.1.x (not sure exactly which iteration created it). Ben’s recommendation was to report it here (along with images).

A couple other things:

  • I calibrated my preferences as you suggested. GPU, High is what came back. And that’s what doesn’t work.
  • I ran with GPU, High for many iterations of DeNoise AI. Somewhere in the February timeframe, after one of the 2.1 updates, this error was created. And it seems to happen 100% of the time, independent of what else may be running on my system.

I’m sticking with OpenVINO for now, even though its far slower than the processing speed of my GPU. But I would like to see this bug acknowledged on the ā€œKnown Issuesā€ of the changelog. Or, even better, perhaps someone will figure it out and just fix it.

The Low Light mode is not working for me. I have just paid for and downloaded 2.2.1, having been on a trial version until now. Specifically, it won’t refresh previews when switched on, so I can’t adjust the sliders to my satisfaction.
And how does Low Light mode work with AI Clear, if at all?
MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports)
2.3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5
8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 1536 MB
Catalina 10.15.5

Have you reset the advanced preferences yet?

Low light mode only works with DeNoise model.

AiDon & excorp
Just for your reference:
I was report this to help center at 12.Apr., but can not got resonable answer, when I upgrade to V.2.1.4 then I posted on Denoise AI V.2.1.0 #197 on 22.Apr. and excorp had responded the same mention on #199. ( DeNoise AI 2.1.0 - #197 by adam.mains )

My first upgrade is from V.1.3.3 to V.2.1.2 , it seems working normal (not quite sure),
After using a short period then upgrade to V.2.1.4 the problem come out.

If I close both GPU & openvino, everything working normal but it runs at very slow speed and took a long time

I am not sure what I am supposed to do! I clicked on reset and then returned to the image I want to process. Calibration ran but, with Auto-Update Preview checked, nothing renders when I move the remove noise slider or navigator box.

Try using Auto and see if that makes a difference, note if Auto Update is NOT clicked you need to press Update to update the preview.

You have a really low end system. Even my slowest computer has 4 cores (4.5 ghz all core) and 16 gb of ram and a 4 Tflop 8 GB GPU. Your intel iris GPU is sharing its vram with the CPUs RAM. You have not 8 GB you have like 7 GB Ram and 1 GB vram. You should upgrate to use High Performance Software like this.

To compare (extreme comparison) with my 24 Core TR 3000 cpu alone i don’t even see the loadingbar when i use AI-Clear because its so fast. (While setup a image for denoise)

You will have fun with this software with a 4 to 6 core CPU (4 ghz+ Turbo) 16 GB of ram and a 4 to 7 TFlop GPU with 8 GB of Vram.

Thomas. Funny you should say that. My lockdown/birthday present to myself is a 16" MacBook Pro with 32GB Ram and the faster GPU! I ordered it last week and it will be delivered soon: I have to wait a bit as I need the English keyboard, which Apple Mexico has to order specially.
I have indeed found AI Sharpen very slow, AI Denoise less so. That’s one reason for the upgrade, even though this Mac is only three years old. And anyway, what the hell? I have been a Mac user for 32 years…
I will hopefully remember to report back if there is still an issue with the newer machine.

My ā€œslowā€ PC is 5 Years old.

But you will have fun with your new MacBook Pro.
That 32 GB RAM is very important. It’s the minimum i would say you should get if you work Professionally.

Yesterday i did denoise (for test) 1000 images an the RAM load was 70 GB (my big one has 128 GB), i was using Photoshop (15 tiff images open for Quality Controll) , Bridge, Firefox, Music, Capture One and DeNoise (20 GB alone).

If you use Windows you could ā€œupgrateā€ your RAM with a NVME SSD (swap File), yea its much slower but better than nothing or a hang.

I am trying the latest version now, with the new low light option/etc.

But same as any other version… since 1.3.3… the final image is basically the same as the original!
The final output DOES NOT match the preview!! This is super frustrating…!
I once again may have to go back to a 1 year old version or whatever it was, in order to get decent output/results…!

I un-installed the older version I had and installed the new one, but same results.
I could try to un-install again/ install latest Nvidia drivers/restart my PC and install AGAIN.
But i highly doubt it will matter, since it’s not with any other previous versions I’ve tried lately.

Windows 10 64bit with Nvidia 980TI.

Edit: Ok… so… I saw some people mention disabling Discrete GPU and use CPU… so now the final denoise image works!? But with GPU it does nothing? CPU obviously is much slower/takes longer to process… but i don’t understand why the final GPU image is still not working…

The application will select the optimum method for processing when you press Reset in the Advanced Preferences, please use that option rather than selecting yourself.

After the update i get- Couldn“t connect to server ( 7)
tried to uninstall and reinstall…

That means that either your internet is down or the server delivering the update is not available. Just wait and try again.

My internet is not down and i have had the problem for a few days now.

Have you tried going to the downloads page on Topaz Labs main website and downloading from there? If you can it means your firewall is blocking the update server.

Hi,

In the past i had a problem with opencl because of nvidia physics, (yea sounds strange i know) it could be broken.
Try to uninstall the driver with ā€œDisplay Driver Uninstallerā€ ā€œDDUā€ and then use the actual Studio Driver.

(Website is full of ads, dont press download without reading)

The right download looks like this.

ā€œOfficial Download Hereā€

Hello
I just installed Denois 2.2 and my raw or jpeg photos appear very small and when I put at 400% everything is pixelated
I don’t see how to get them in normal size
I’m on a laptop and windows 10
From Lightroom it works very well but not using the software alone
excuse my english i’m french
thanks in advance

I don’t believe there are any Studio drivers for the GTX980 Ti

That is not necessarily the case that OpenVINO is slower. Press Reset in Advanced Preferences and the Application will calibrate the best option for processing next time you update the preview.
