Trying to crop a HDV file (1440x1080. 0,75 Pixel) and upscale to FHD. Done this 100 of times before. The cropping now gets out of proportion when I set it either Original or 16:9. The video of better explanation.
Hi, I have some old recordings that were dubbed from DV tapes so they include whole video frame, rather than just the “safe” area, and in trying to clean the edges I can no longer crop precisely . This seems c/w what folks on this thread have experienced. Any update on a fix for the cropping? Thanks.
Whats the goal, do you want crop 1440x1080 source to 16:9? Two options a) stretching the width (but TVAI can’t do that), this falls anyway flat when your content is not compressed or b) croping top + bottom pixels away (loose content) until it fits 16:9, which is in your case 1440 x 810. Is croping to this size not possible into TVAI? Yes could be when there is a 4:3 DAR value TVAI takes but you did 16:9 of it.
Because of this and other problems, I don’t use TVAI croping. I use Virtualdub (or Avidemux, Hybrid) doing this. There you can do also free scaling and much more with filters
When you swich HDV content 1440x1080 to Square Pixel, it is 1920x1080. HDV is a “transition format” from the early 2000s. Pixelformat is 0.75.
I have croped HDV in orginal aspect ratio in older versions of Video AI succesfully.
Yes i see TVAI does not show you real native pixels (1440x1080) when croping and when you have set the “square pixel” option. TVAI crop is crap, as I wrote I don’t use, i stretch 4:3 to 16:9 myself with other tools like Virtualdub, Avidemux or Hybrid.
