Camera Profiles

Hello.
I don’t like to export my photos to Topaz from Lightroom. I drop the files directly into Photo AI and process them. However, I am noticing that Topaz is changing my camera profile from Camera Neutral to Camera Standard once I import the .dng files back to Lightroom. Lightroom doesn’t do this so I can only assume that Photo AI is changing the camera profile.

Is there a way to change this?

Why are you NOT using the plug-ins?

Just my workflow. I tried sending from LR and didn’t like how the files were managed.

Please send me an example file and I can reproduce this then make a task for my team to look into it.

Thank you. What is it that you want to review? Just a photo from Lightroom that shows the camera profile after import from Topaz unchanged?

The original Raw image and the output DNG image with the changed camera profile so I can reproduce the issue.

Thank you! I uploaded them to you.

Thanks for uploading the files. I just tested them and the output file on my computer had the Camera Neutral profile when I imported it to Lightroom Classic.

I’m not sure what is causing the camera profile to shift sometimes and not others. Do you have any antivirus or other software that could be affecting Topaz Photo AI when it’s writing the file?

That’s odd. I have AVG Antivirus, but I am unable to disable it. I would have to uninstall it every time I use Photo AI.

So it seems that if I import the .CR3 file into LR and then use the plug-in, it retains the camera setting. But if I send the file to Photo AI first to process, then export to LR, it doesn’t retain the camera setting… on my end, anyway. How did you test the files? Through the LR plugin?

I tested both the LrC plugin and using stand alone.

You can add Topaz Photo AI as an exception to your antivirus and that may help prevent this behavior without requiring you to constantly change your antivirus settings.

I did as you asked, but it made no difference.

Without a reproduction on my device it’s difficult to know what is causing this or fix it.

I’m curious if we could possibly fix this issue so that using the plugin may work better. What was the problem here?

Nothing on your end, really. It’s the way LR stacks them. I like to keep my .cr3 files stored in a separate location to my .dng files and I don’t want to stack pictures in LR. There are probably settings that I haven’t looked at to make it look less complicated. Maybe it will be my winter project. LOL

What’s interesting is that since the latest update, my pictures are importing from Photo AI as Camera Portrait instead of Camera Standard. Something changed again. Maybe on the next update, they’ll import as Camera Neutral that I have set up in my camera. lol

Oh boy. We haven’t changed code about the camera profiles so this is a mystery to me. Hopefully we can find some pattern.
