Automasking – salient subject masking – sms_new-v3 – Creating Wave Artifact along very Distinct Edge

Autopilot automasked my subject using sms_new-v3. It created a wavy artifact along the edge that was supposed to be a piece of cake. It is highly distinct since there is a very high contrast between the dark subject and the white background. I can’t find any logical explanation for the waves.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

1. Load a raw NEF taken with Nikon Z7ii with a very distinct dark subject on a white background
2. Let autopilot automask it with sms_new-v3
3. See that along the linear edges, which are very distinct, it masks with an incorrect, unnatural, artificial, wrong wavy pattern
