AND LET NO ONE FORGET: Even the so-called “perpetual” licence TVAI version is totally dependent on Topaz Labs or any future owner continuing to allow the app to run via their authentication system.
Correct me if I’m wrong, Topaz, but I don’t see any legal obligation in the EULA for Topaz OR any future owner to continue to authenticate TVAI indefinitely…
@bitfidelity - Development has continued Topaz Image Web has received ongoing updates since, Topaz Video has an active beta in testing with users, and Topaz Photo and Gigapixel both have upcoming patches in the works with multiple bug fixes, new camera support, and other improvements.
@JEM - yes, new models remain in continuous development. Topaz Video has active updates in beta testing and new Topaz Photo/Gigapixel new model updates, new camera support, optimizations etc are also in the works (separate from bug fixes), as well as new models for Topaz Image Web.
Just so everyone is clear - the Founder subscription’s price lock is not something you can rely on. All Adobe would have to do is create a new standalone app (“Topaz Video Pro”) and stop development on the current one. Knowing how they operate (I used to work at Marketo, which was acquired by them), I’d expect that to happen within the next couple of years. And that’s the best case scenario. The worst cases scenario is that server side engineering team gets suborned into the Adobe product teams. I’ve had friends who stayed after the Marketo merger tell me of similar things.
In the past we used to see Beta versions for Photo and Gigapixel for volunteer Beta Testers …
You seem to be leaving those enthusiastic Beta Testers in the ditch ?
No activity in those forums since January 2026 ?
Beta testing is now open for anyone who owns/subscription the software to participate in there is no longer a specific group anymore however, in appreciation the previous testers keep their Beta Tester titles.
FlashVSR is quite good although Topaz is better and gives more natural results. But you can hope for that to improve. One thing about all this AI stuff is it cannot stay still. There are loads of people trying to out do each other.
Beta testing has not been discontinued, but it does not work in the same way as it did for Photo AI. The Studio apps beta testing is no longer tied to a regular release cycle. The beta forums are also now open to all users with a subscription. Beta releases are made when targeted feedback is needed on specific features or models, while other updates remain in internal testing until they’re ready for public release.
Current status:
Topaz Photo: The last open beta was April 2026. No beta is currently active, but new models and bug fixes are in continuous development and internal testing. TP Beta Thread here
Topaz Gigapixel: The last open beta was January 2026. No beta is currently active, but new models and bug fixes are in continuous development and internal testing. TG Beta Thread here
Topaz Video: A v1.7.0 beta is currently active for user testing and feedback. TV Beta Thread hereEdit: For approved beta testers. Can request Topaz Video beta access here if you have a valid Topaz Video subscription)
We’ll continue to post future open beta releases in the respective beta forum sections whenever additional user feedback or testing is needed beyond internal testing!
Things will change and Adobe will screw existing customers, the same things where said when they bought out Allegorithmic, and since then all they have really have done for Substance Painter/Designer is make it more expensive and add additional software that was not needed, and put the Substance user library behind a paywall
