I don’t know if it’s a good news or not.
It’s not good news…anything Adobe acquires or touches turns into total crap…and you can forget about any sort of Founder status once they go through with this…
I have a long history of abandoning good apps after Adobe acquires them (Pagemaker, Framemaker, RoboHelp).
In all of these cases, the cause was the same: after acquiring the original company, Adobe either decides to fire the original creators and transfer development to its own internal talent or is forced to transfer development to internal talent when the original creators chafe under Adobe’s management and walk out the door. And once the original creators are gone, future releases add new features without ever addressing old issues because nobody fully understands how the core app really works.

Good luck to the devs. Best models in the biz. Shame about the commercial direction.
Sad for the customers, but once it was subscription, it was kinda all over anyway.

Customers can continue to use and renew their Topaz products as they do today. Topaz products will remain available as standalone offerings, and we expect continued support and investment in future innovation.

No longer a customer and never will be after the deeply predatory and offensive business practices they laid out to land this deal.
Mixed feelings because they ended up scamming adobe (good!) with the fake revenue streams (nobody is using cloud offloading at those prices) and the fake sub counts (how many are new paids vs grandfathered in again??) Anyway sad to see capitalism reward the worst again and again. Easy to disrupt tho. Thank god for open source! If you can program, find a community and contribute to free yourself from this vicious cycle.
After the transaction closes, Topaz Labs customers of all sizes can expect continued support and investment in future innovation and Topaz Labs products will remain available as standalone offerings through the company’s website. Upon close, Topaz Labs CEO Eric Yang will continue to lead the Topaz Labs team.

The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2026, subject to the receipt of required regulatory approvals and the satisfaction of other customary closing conditions.
Just by itself, this could explain the heart of the deal.
Topaz Labs will also bring its proprietary Neurostream technology that enables large, complex AI models to run locally on consumer devices, democratizing advanced image and video models previously limited to high-end systems or cloud-only usage and positioning Adobe to tap into the growing opportunity for efficient, on-device AI video.

Adobe is known for its ultra-aggressive marketing approach that forces customer lock-in.
Their “Neura-local” technology is headed for disaster. With the emergence of AI now used far beyond video enhancement, everyone is demanding local AI—no cloud, no exorbitant subscriptions.
Great models are becoming smaller and smaller, making it increasingly easy to run them locally, subscription-free, 24/7, with zero data sent to the internet, and, above all, with no file size limits.
For me, this will be Adobe’s Waterloo.

Maybe this is just my bias, since I am Japanese and can only speak from a Japanese user’s perspective.
But in Japan, Adobe has a somewhat negative image as a company with aggressive pricing and business practices. Of course, Photoshop and Illustrator are very popular and widely used here. That part is undeniable. But that does not necessarily mean people have a positive impression of Adobe as a company.
So when I hear that Adobe is acquiring Topaz, my first reaction is honestly negative.

But from my perspective as a Japanese user, this acquisition makes me worried rather than excited.

It might be helpful to some to clarify this. My assumption is that this refers to Topaz Studio products.
Some users of Topaz Video still erroneously refer to it as Video AI in the forum and at least one Facebook group. With the pending Adobe acquisition and the mention of standalone versions still being available, some are speculating that this means Video AI - the legacy version, which is, of course, standalone. They might not realize that the Topaz Video - the Studio version - is also a standalone application.
There was plenty of confusion over the naming a year ago when the transition began, and it hasn’t entirely cleared yet. References to continued use of standalone Topaz products after being swallowed whole by Adobe should not be mistaken for the legacy apps wjth “AI” in the name.

Your assumption would be correct this only applies to the Studios versions and it’s understandable that people who own Video AI think because they are using it and it’s working that means available
But, they would be totally wrong because, one, Topaz Video AI has been officially discontinued as of September 16th 2025 and two,“Still being Available” means being available to buy the new Studio version on Subscription only
Therefore, No it is not available you can no longer purchase the old Topaz Photo AI, Gigapixel AI or Video AI
