90 degree ghost of the Eiffel Tower after Photo AI raw processing

Working in Lightroom on a photo of the Eiffel Tower at night from a recent trip to Paris. I sent the Canon CR3 raw file to Photo AI using the Plug-In Extras option. When the file got back to Lightroom, Photo AI did some really strange stuff with the Eiffel Tower. There’s a halo of the tower turned 90 degrees. Granted, this image is loaded with noise but when I use DeNoise AI and Sharpen AI on this same raw file, I do not get this effect. Even stranger, if I open the files in Mac Preview, the horizontal Eiffel Tower is not there. It seems to only be showing in Lightroom and is present in Lightroom exports.

I’ve uploaded a zip file containing the CR3 and JPG export from Lightroom for testing.

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Import CR3 to Lightroom. Do not convert to DNG.
  2. Send the CR3 to Lightroom using File → Plug-In Extras
  3. View the resulting DNG file to see the strangeness.

I am not a LR user. However I am not seeing the ghosting in PR 2023. Hopefully other LR users will come along and test the image as well. Or raise a direct Support request and send the file.
Good luck.

Thanks. There’s definitely something interesting going on in Lightroom Classic with how it’s reading the Photo AI created DNG file.

I reported this here from the Feedback button in the upper right of Photo AI. How do I raise a direct support request?

you should see a chat icon at the bottom right of this page. If you click on it, it has the option to send an email to Support.

@rayinsanmiguel-15486 If your RAW files are below 65MB, you should be able to upload them directly to this thread here – our Photo AI specialist will be able to take a look at them shortly!

@tbalzanto reached out through support and we managed to figure out the issue. It is due to a mask and we are working on a solution!
