Is it worth reactivating maintenance on Video AI - I’ve got version 4.0.9. I’m not doing subscription stuff but wondering if its worth turning maintenance back on to get the last actual version of Video AI.
I’ve seen people comment that the Starlight mini is more a gimmick - i.e. won’t do an episode or something as its limited to a few minutes.
My main usage is to take things I’ve got in SD - old westerns and the like - and just clean them up and upres them to 720P. Not interested in putting anything to 4K etc.
I always found Artemis Medium to be the best.
Has there been any great improvements for someone doing SD to 720P or is it not worth bothering?
I’m not sure if you can have perpetual anymore. I can recommend if you have the hardware for local Starlight, alternative is SeedVR2…. Without Starlight usage the upgrade is not really worth it unless you want the Rhea model, Artemis there nothing has changed.
IMO for your use cases Starlight is by far the best model - and you definitely can do whole movies at once if you’re doing local rendering (and have the hardware needed for that).
Starlight rendered in the cloud has a 9000 frame limit, there technically isn’t a limit when rendering locally, but your hardware may be a limitation if it is on the lower end of the minimum system requirements for Starlight.
You can check out the release forum for the change log in each version between 4.0.9 and 7.1.5 to see if the updates are improvements that you would like.
The perpetual upgrades are no longer for sale, if you would like to purchase one, please email us help@topazlabs.com and we can invoice you.
