Hi everyone. I have the Suite - all 3 apps, Topaz Photo 1.02, Gigapixel and Video. I am a still photographer who is looking to enhance my images. I like using the Standalone apps. I can start either from PS, LR or Photos, all on Mac M4. Many of the workflow ideas are from years ago, or older programs so I thought I would update it, and get myself on the right track.
The first question is whether Gigapixel is the same as using the Upscale tool in Photo? At the moment I am looking at an image I shot with my iPhone, went into Gigapixel to upscale, then into Topaz Photo for some more tweaking, then into PhotoShop for tweaking, masking, curves, etc., to make a print. I am guessing I am doing a little more than is needed, but not really sure. I am getting very happy with the Topaz controls… I’m a very experienced photographer, a PS expert.
Would love to hear what you all have to say about workflow with the latest tools…
Good question. I would like to know the answer as well. I always thought giga pixel meant to increase pixel size to make a smaller image taken by some old camera into a bigger life-size type picture so ever since I got the dig a pixel I never used it once.
Topaz Photo has these Basic upscaling models and may be all you need in most cases.

For my typical process I always start with Crop and Denoise, and then Upscale. After that I do any of the other potential changes to the image, but Sharpen is always last. Depending on finding the best Upscaling Model for a particular image this might take me back and forth from Photo to Giga and back to Photo again.

The manuals talk about how the controls inside of Photo and Gigapixel work. I already know how they work. They don’t discuss workflow options. I am not some newbie. I think it’s not very nice to just tell people to go read the manual. There are questions about what is best to do in each application, that are simply not covered.
