Will upgrading from a GTX 1660 to a 4070Ti help?

I like to use Topaz Video enhance AI but the speeds of rendering with my GTX 1660 are SUPER slow, I know no matter the card the speed isn’t insanely fast but would upgrading to an RTX 4070Ti help with speeds much?

Yes it will.

it definitely will help!

new card + TVAI v3.2.x or above would yield a dramatic speed boost.

I have a gtx 1660 too, and I had the 3080 ti and the rx 6900 xt, with these two cards, nothing to do with the gtx 1660!

@jakhall1605 - I just updated from a XFX 6700xt to a Asus Proart 4070ti. There is a noticeable difference in time savings. A few posts talked about video quality improved but not seeing that. Here is a benchmark if you want to compare.

Topaz Video AI v3.3.5
System Information
OS: Windows v10.22
CPU: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960X 24-Core Processor 255.87 GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 11.729 GB
Processing Settings
device: 0 vram: 1 instances: 0
Input Resolution: 1920x1080
Benchmark Results
Artemis 1X: 22.18 fps 2X: 09.59 fps 4X: 02.59 fps
Proteus 1X: 20.51 fps 2X: 08.71 fps 4X: 02.52 fps
Gaia 1X: 07.99 fps 2X: 05.73 fps 4X: 02.30 fps
4X Slowmo Apollo: 31.31 fps APFast: 42.17 fps Chronos: 18.82 fps CHFast: 24.14 fps

Wow !!!

No faster than my 3070

Artemis 1X: 15.13 fps 2X: 09.07 fps 4X: 02.43 fps
Proteus 1X: 14.97 fps 2X: 08.99 fps 4X: 02.41 fps
Gaia 1X: 04.96 fps 2X: 03.38 fps 4X: 02.22 fps
4X Slowmo Apollo: 17.99 fps APFast: 45.07 fps Chronos: 11.24 fps CHFast: 18.51 fps

The difference between the 6700xt and 4070ti was noticeable but not blown away. Thought about getting something like a 3080 or 3090. The 4070ti might get traded in for a 4060ti 16GB or something with more memory to use on another project non-Topaz related.

Don’t get the 4060ti it’s rubbish.
Might have 16gb but is only x8 pcie and memory is only 192 bit.
Stay well clear !!

yeah, all the critics on YouTube like LinesTech, JayZTwoCents, Gamer Nexus, Hardware Unboxed, etc. highly advise staying away from this card.

Don 't buy 4070ti !!!
I upgraded from 3070 to 4070ti. The speed of work has not changed at all. Most likely, the reason is that the tire of the 4070 is narrower than that of the 3070.

Agreed. Get a 4080 at least.

Hi everyone!

which will bring more benefits to editing in Adobre Premier and Topaz Video AI. I have quite a bit of DV era video (10 years of family videos that I will be putting together for retirement) and fresh footage from a Sony A7 422 10bit.

I currently have an i9 9900k, 2080 Super and 64GB DD4 + nvma drives. Everything runs ok but the marketing is working against me.

I have two choices:

  1. faster is to buy a 4070Ti
  2. leaving the 2080Super and changing the motherboard to i9 13 series, new board, new DDR5 ram.

Costs similar. What do you guys advise?

Sorry for grammar, english is not my native language.

I’m not so sure about that. Just looking at the first number (Artemis 1X) in the benchmarks thread. My 4070 ti gets 24fps and the fastest 3070 ti on there gets 15fps. Of course, looking at X4 everything mashes more into the same speed. 3fps vs 2.5fps. But at that level, pretty much only the 4090 gets faster than 3fps.
