Why is Video AI's UI always such a disaster?

I’m stuck with 5.3.6 because every newer version is basically unusable.
I just tried upgrading to 7.1.3, hoping things had improved, but it’s a total mess – glitchy UI, buttons that don’t even work, can’t easily see the file name of the video. And there might be actual video enhancement/encoding problems too, but I didn’t even bother testing because the UI alone is unbearable.

What the hell is going on with Video AI’s UI development? You’d notice these bugs instantly if you actually used the software, but they just stay there release after release.

I still have an active subscription from last year, but apparently I can’t upgrade to a single usable version during this entire subscription period. Really regret renewing. It sucks to see a solid product (the core video enhancement) being completely ruined by this awful UI.

Can you provide more details about what is glitchy in the UI, which buttons don’t work, and where you are not able to easily see the file name?

Feel free to send a screen recording to show the issues so we can get bug reports created.

  • We recommend loom, it’s free and easy to use. Once your Loom recording is ready, you’ll be able to get a link with the video, please reply back with the link
  • Feel free to use any other preferred method and send the video file attached to your email replace. If the file is too large to attach, you can upload it here: Submit File to Dropbox

Hi, I’m still with version 5 because of the same problem.
IMHO and after 25 years working with all kind NLE and linear editors and brands (from AMC to AE) the interface since version 6 is not designed for humans.
I’m still wondering, how it is possible there are 2 major releases with the same impossible interface, and how is it possible, after so many complaints, developers still stuck to it.
It’s a pity as version 5 preview timeline is slowest timeline on Earth, and I’m pretty sure there are some good technical improvements on next versions (are they?) but v6 and 7 GUI is just “too innovative” for my poor millennial mind.
Only real improvement on GUI I see is the rollo ver for “estimated” and “elapsed” time (the switcher in v5 is just nuts)
The behaviour for the contextual windows for “Preview queue” “sources” and “Export queue” is different! you cant escape from them with “Esc” key, One has the “X” up right, the other in the middle, the other doesnt have, one keeps the window open, the other blocks preview, and so on. could it be more complex?

“Preview queue” is just madness, if you put several test in queue as they are tittle “Unttitle” all of them , clicking doesnt seems to go to them or yes, I dont know, you dont know which one is each one, and comparing them is just harder than ever, they arent hidden and you need to invoke the list EVERYTIME clicking on the “Preview queue” button (which isn’t a window as the other 2 buttons side by side BTW, why making things so confusing? please dont mix tabs with lists placing buttons side by side)

“Previews list” and “Source” should be at sight ALL THE TIME, no lists, no tabs. It is very hard to coy from one to another clicking so many times form one place to another, hiding and showing things.

v5 GUI is far from perfect, but it is way more intuitive and efficient.
