Is there an obvious reason for the “plastic look” that makes buildings look like cardboard or plastic models or cars like a toy? I haven’t been able to identify any pattern in this regard. On the one hand, it’s true that the lower the resolution, the more likely this is to happen. On the other hand, I also have good-quality DVD footage where this effect is already present, and conversely, files with lower resolution (e.g., a file here with 512x384) that look better than some DVDs. With sharp hair, normal text, and no “plastic look.”
