I built a PC just for Starlight Mini and I just bought TVAI, so I’m very poor now. haha
I’m using a 9950X3D with a 5080 and I’m very impressed with Starlight Mini! I wish it was faster though. I’m currently getting 0.6 FPS on 7.0.0.2b. I tried 7.0.0.4b and it’s giving me 0.2-0.3 FPS! I downgraded to 7.0.0.2b.
All I’ve been doing has been regular SD to 2x. I have done 2 music videos and they’ve taken 3:30 hours each. I’m doing a third music video and I left it running while I’m at work…
Was wondering if I should exchange the 5080 for the 5090, but I don’t know if it would give me double the speed. 1.2 FPS would be nice.
RTX 4090 user here. Starlight Mini is impressive indeed, but the speeds are frankly appalling. I also see around .3 to .5 fps when converting 480p to 2x upscalling.
Hope the software gets optimized as it delivers fantastic results…
You should update to 7.0.1. It probably won’t improve processing speed as the model itself is very slow to run, but it has improved startup times for me.
Based on other comments I’ve seen, 5090 won’t double your speed compared to the 5080. Though this model does seem to be almost entirely GPU bound with the CPU making little difference.
I am running this on a 5090 paired with 9950X3D and 1080p input gives me 0.5fps at 1x and 0.1fps at 2x. Not tried it with lower input resolutions yet, but I do have some old VHS footage that is either 360p or 480p. Just need to deinterlace it first then will give Starlight Mini a go on it. I’m curious to see how much faster it will be.
