Video Enhance AI v1.6.1

the “CPU” is the intel graphics from your Cpu !! if you click on “CPU” and check in your ressource management while using VEAI, you’ll notice that it’s used

Ahhh I see. Thanks! It’s terribly slow lmao. I was using Quadro rtx 6000 but I sold to upgrade to something better and wanted to try the igpu to compare hahaha

to give you an idea, i have an i7-7700 with intel HD Graphics 630, it’s faster that my GTX 750ti. i get around 6.5 s/f for 720p->1080p.
the 750ti is much worst, around 12 s/f. before i had a GT 640 , and i was getting a 20 s/f. so for me, the intel HD graphics 630 (not less) is acceptable for some stacks.

Thanks. I saw in task manager that the CPU and igpu were both under load.

1080p to 4k with 9900k and uhd 630 is about 12-14 seconds/f

it’s pretty good compared to what it is !! i don’t have 4K so never tried to upscal at this, but it’s pretty normal that you get the double than me, as it’s almost the same driver iGpu. intel Xe will change everything but not out yet for desktop Cpu.

If you want to keep noise/grain you can try
QTGMC(Preset=“placebo”, SourceMatch=3, NoiseProcess=1, GrainRestore=1.0, Sigma=2.0) or
QTGMC( Preset=“placebo”, SourceMatch=3, NoiseProcess=1, NoiseRestore=1.0, Sigma=2.0 )
and you will keep the benefit of TR2 stabilization.

Hello,
if a video with variable framerate was enhanced with Gaia HQ without firstly switch to constant framerate (for a mistake) is it solvable? Is Handbrake good for this? Because audio is out of sync but I would like to keep the quality.
Thanks!

I’ve used Handbrake for this purpose quite a bit. There is a caveat, though. As stated in Handbrake’s documentation, " Constant Frame Rate (CFR) makes your new video exactly one frame rate throughout. … When used with a specific frame rate, HandBrake conforms your entire video to the new frame rate. This method is not recommended except in special circumstances, such as encoding for import into an [NLE](Non-linear editing - Wikipedia) or for extremely old devices."

I import into a NLE, so it works great for my workflow. If your workflow is different, even Handbrake doesn’t recommend this.

Excluding Handbrake what software could I use for that conversion in lossless mode?

The best way to deal with vfr is to extract the timecode in V2 format from the original video.
I use avisynth for that

FFVideoSource(“yourvideo”, timecodes=“timecodes.txt”)

Then load your avisynth script in VirtualDub2, in just a few seconds the timecodes text file will be written and you can close VirtualDub. Demux your audio, the program to use will depend on your original container file. There are tons of freewares available fot that task or you can still use VirtualDub to reencode the audio only.

Process your video normally in VEAI by directly import it there. Once finish use MKVToolnix-gui to remux your video/audio/timecode together. And that’s it you will have the same VFR video upscaled.
And if you prefer MP4 format over MKV then use Avidemux. Import your MKV choose copy on both streams and MP4 output. This will normally keep the variable framerate.

Thank for your answer! My problem is that the video is already enhanced but it’s still in VFR and audio goes out of sync. Should I convert it to CFR with avisinth using the settings you wrote? Maybe I’m missing some information so thank you for your patience!
Thank you very much!

There is absolutely no conversion needed with this method. Just verify that when you import your video in VirtualDub and VEAI you have exactly the same frame count number. If not that could be an explanation of out of sync issues.

Maybe I’m misundersting, but so if frames are the same in Veai and in VirtualDub I don’t have to switch in cfr right? Before VEAI the video was processed in Hybrid and it showed 25 fps, should I assume it already converted to cfr?

Hybrid (QTGMC) & VEAI - 101

I am a newie here, and have been spending quite a bit of time reading this forum and other Hybrid etc., forums.

Have installed Hybrid and been trying to develop a decent workflow to

  1. deinterlace DV converted SD videos
  2. Upscale using VEAI

The #1 is quite a challenge so far for me as I have not been able to find a decent write up guide for new users.

Has anyone came across decent guide to install hybrid and all the plugins and use the confgis posted here to deinterlace?

regards
Adnan

Any update on the 3000 series nvidia cards working with Topaz tools? Or is it only broken on video enhance AI? I saw a little ways up about Ampere not being supported yet. Whats the ETA on that? I’d like to try my 3080 out.

Also does VEAI strictly run on the cuda cores or is it utilizing the tensor cores at all?

@4adnan check StaxRip and forget Hybrid… StaxRip it’s much better and easier to work.:+1:

Gaia HQ sometimes creates a visible horizontal line which in many frames is quite annoying. Is there a solution or is it an issue of the AI?

Any idea when will VEAI support AMD Graphic Card in Windows environment ?
Thanks

Hello all! I’m getting some weird color artifacts in Topaz Video Enhance AI 1.6.1 when importing a DVD MKV. Trying to understand what I’m doing wrong. Win10 (2004), RTX 3080 (456.55), Z390/9900KS. All stock speeds.

Any suggestions?
