New confused VEAI user.
I choose to render to MP4. When saving the file, it’s changed to MKV.
What did I miss here?

When you pick a custom output location and change the default name of output file you need to add .mp4 at the end of file name. Otherwise the default file format will be .mkv

On the other hand, I’m not fond of secret rules. If I specify MP4, it seems to me the program should write an MP4. What has the output directory and the custom filename have to do with it? Know what I mean? Maybe MKV should be an option on the file type menu to avoid confusion.
I’m adding this to my list of fuzzy VEAI logic. I almost never want to use the default name because we have our own naming rules. Same for the directory. This helpful feature is an annoying workaround. But that’s just me.
Doubtful it’s a rule, probably sloppy programming.
