Hello All,
I downloaded Topaz Video AI v 4.2.0 several months ago to try it out and it worked fine. I forgot about it until recently, but now I see the version 5 requires Intel CPU to have AVX instructions. I have a few questions below:
- Am I correct in assuming that this is a new requirement for version 5?
- Can I buy a license for version 4.2.0 and not upgrade?
- Will version 5 run on a non AVX CPU machine?
- If yes to question 3, will hardware acceleration be enabled in GPU?
My Specs:
Apple Mac Pro 5,1
2 x 3.46 GHz Xeon 5690’s 12 core (non AVX)
96GB 1333 GHz DDR3
Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB DDR5 (Polaris)
Opencore Monterey 12.7.6
Samsung 28" UR55 UHD 4k monitor
AVX is a set of instructions that CPUs use to process certain tasks, these instructions allow the system to process video encoding.
AVX is a requirement for the app, there were a few versions that required AVX2 however, the requirement was removed and replaced with a warning to let the user know that it is not guaranteed that everything will work.
2- When you buy any of our applications you own the latest and all previous versions of the app. Previous versions can be download via the release forum.
3- You will need avx instructions to process video encoding
4- You can select the AI processor to the GPU in the preferences.
Also as you are using a patched bootloader to install an operating system not designed for that system you will be on your own regarding any kind of support.
