Version 3 Vs Version 4 Of Video AI

What has really changed in version 4 of Video AI, vs version 3 which I now use. I use the newest version 3 update.

A list of changes can be found here: Topaz Video AI Pre-Order

I might be mis-understanding the list, but it seems a lot of features already in TVAI 3.5.2 are being advertised as new features in 4.0. So I’ve created a list of features that seem “exclusive to 4.0” to me:

  • New video preview system.
  • New Nyx v2 with:
    • Better denoising
    • 2x upscaling
    • Compression artifacts removal
  • Black and white video mode (May come out in 3.5.3)
  • Reverse telecine mode (May come out in 3.5.3)
  • Reduced loading times for Enhancement models (Probably already in 3.5.2)
  • Improved performance on modern Nvidia GPUs (Probably already in 3.5.2)

Direct Comparison UI to preview images and compare any two of your 24 AI models directly. Fine tune settings with side-by-side, slide-over, and overlay views to get the perfect video enhancement.

It seems that the biggest change is that V4 allows creating previews from two different models and displaying them side by side.

Like in V2?
It is like they are re-adding features from older versions.

I would think they meant version 2 of Nyx as if it was version 1 just before this. Assuming that of course.

I don’t think so. V2 treated every frame as a single image, which is why they could generate previews instantly. However, since V3, they have been using FFMPEG as the backend. If V4 remains the same, it is unlikely to have the same type of preview as V2.

Most likely, you will still need to select a model, then click the Preview button and wait a few seconds to generate a short Preview file. The only difference is that V4 allows you to show two previews side by side.

If TVAI 4 has no command line, I’m going to stick with TVAI 3.
I’m really hoping they just rewrote the graphical user interface portion.

Pretty sure it will still have CLI available.

It’s being called v4 but really it’s just an evolution of v3, with some new features introduced, that they deemed major enough to call it a new version.
