Use the recommended folder for its plugins

I set up my 2nd Mac with PhotoAI. I have both “normal” Photoshop and “beta” Photoshop installed. Topaz only installs its plugin for “normal” Photoshop.

The problem here is that Topaz for some reason installs the plugin in the “wrong” directory (/Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2023/Plug-ins); everyone else installs their plugins in the “correct” place (/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CC) where they can be found by both versions of Photoshop, etc.

By using the “wrong” folder the plugin(s) will also disappear when the next major version of Photoshop is installed.

The “fix” is to copy the TopazPhotoAI.plugin from the Plug-Ins folder under “normal” Photoshop to the corresponding folder under “beta” Photoshop (admin permissions required for this).

Any upgrades from Topaz that change the plugin will also result in the “beta” Photoshop having an out-of-date plugin.

IMO Topaz should change the installation location.

I don’t believe they have ever installed in Beta copies of any software.

Fair point.

I should re-label my post as a “feature request” rather than a “bug”.

Topaz really should use the recommended folder for its plugins though, to avoid future hiccups.

The interesting thing is that on my older Mac, I had both versions of Photoshop when I first installed the first-ever version of PhotoAI, and it did install the plugin for both.

Done. :grinning:

I would love this as well!
