Upscaling SD image to HD changes colour

Hi there. I’m using v1.3.1.
I’ve noticed that when upscaling SD video to HD, the colur palette changes slightly. Reds change to have an orange hue. But if the image stays at the original resolution, the original palette is retained.
It does the same using Proteus, Nyx and Artemis (haven’t tried it with the other models).
Here are some screenshots for your reference.
Is anyone else having the same issue? If so, how do I resolve it?
Thanks.

Are you seeing the color change just in the app, or with exports as well? The preview viewer in the app can shift colors at times, depending on the original files color profile.

It’s also in the final export.
Here’s the same frame as viewed stretched to full screen in VLC player. The unscaled SD is true to the original video file (digital rip straight from a DV tape) and the HD version has the orange hue.

It happens because of automatic conversion from Rec. 601 (SD) to Rec. 709 (HD+). Most likely…
A possibility to keep it or convert it would be preferable choices.

Understood, can you send the logs in so I can share with the devs as well. That way we can confirm the color profile of the source and look into this as a larger situation like SkyDude mentioned. help@topazlabs.com

To gather logs, please select Help > Logging > Get Logs for Support and attach the zip file to your reply.

Here is a video to help with the steps of how to collect the logs.

Hi Kyle
