Hey everyone! I’m looking to upgrade my GPU for video editing and processing in Topaz Video AI. Currently, I’m running an RTX 4070Ti Super paired with a Ryzen 9 9950X, and it’s been great, but I want to step up performance for faster rendering and handling SD and 4K projects.
I’m considering these options:
RTX 4080 Super (seems like a solid last-gen choice, maybe better value?)
RTX 5070Ti (newer tech, DLSS 4, Multi-Frame Generation, but how’s it for video editing?)
RTX 5080 (top-tier, but is it worth the price for my use case?)
I’d love to hear your thoughts! How do these GPUs compare for Topaz Video AI and general video editing workflows? Is the 5080’s performance boost worth the cost, or should I stick with the 4080 Super for better price-to-performance? Any real-world experiences with these cards? Thanks in advance!
It really depends on how important the “time is money” equation is to you.
I suspect for general video editing the improvements are likely to be marginal overall, so it really comes down to TVAI performance.
For example, say your currently getting 14fps on a 2x Proteus upscale to 4K. Does improving that to 18fps when you upgrade to a 5080 really shift the needle for you?
Software and model improvements in TVAi version 7 has also increased the processing rate significantly since version 3. I run an RTX 3080 10GB and it was super slow back in V3. I got 2-5 fps running a single video (Artemis). Today, I can run 2x videos at the same time with Proteus, getting 13fps each and I’m happy with the quality. So it is not all about hardware, model and software makes a big difference too. Newer models can match the output quality of older models, while running at a higher processing rate.
