Hello Topaz video team, I would like to know for us who subscribe to the software when will we be entitled to unlimited credit for subscribers? Since on gigapixel subscribers are entitled to unlimited credit, why on video software you don’t do the same thing simply for subscribers? Will one day for subscribers be entitled to unlimited credit?
Hi.
Credits = Rendering:
It’s one thing to have Unlimited Image Upscaling and Rendering and a completely different thing for unlimited Video Upscaling and Rendering
Which is between 24 and 120 pictures per second or between 24 = 1,440 images per minute 120 = 7,200 images per minute
How would Topaz make money without significantly increasing the subscriptions
I find that the reasoning of your answer especially your last sentence of your answer, I find that the reasoning of your answer especially your last sentence of your answer, because when we see that gigapixel can make unlimited renderings In terms of credits, how do they also manage to obtain the income? If they can do it why can’t you? Do you know what I mean? We’ll already pay a lot for the annual subscription and would be good if you could set up unlimited credits for the video. I find that you are really losing credibility since you set up the cloud. Whereas before in previous versions you manage to get by without the cloud. When will Starlight be faster at export level whether locally or in the cloud? Thanks
The upscaling process is faster in the cloud, but until you get it, it can be slower when you’re waiting in line for your video to be processed
but you have your computer free
Ultimately, the customer always pays for everything, so unlimited video upscaling would only make the subscription more expensive, and those who use it excessively would drive up the prices.
However, the 5-minute limit has to go, and I expect high quality and no h264 CFR23 downloads, but I hear they’re working on that.
Credits equals Rendering
Your argument is why should there be Free Unlimited Image Rendering and the not the same for Video Rendering
As, a Founder member I receive 300 Video Credits a Month as part of my Subscription which is worth $75 if you were to purchase them from Topaz separately
So, if I use those 300 Video Credits every Month then that would equate to a $75 a Month which, over the cause of a year is equal to $900 or 3,600 Credits
As, a Founder member I was also given 3,600 Credits or $900 worth as a gift by Topaz as, were all Founders members to be used until my Subscription Auto-Renewals or I use them up which ever comes first.
Still think Topaz are being hard on you
OK, let’s break down those 300 Credits even further.
One 4K frame of Video is the equivalent to an 8 Megapixels image
4K at 24fps × 1 minutes is equal to 24 Credits
300 ÷ 24 Credits = 12.5 minutes of 4K Video Rendering
24fps × 60 seconds × 12.5 minutes which equates to 18,000 Video Frames at 8 Megapixels per Frame
Therefore, if one 4K frame is the same as an 8 Megapixels Image then, for your Free, 300 Credits a Month you are Rendering the equivalent of 18,000 images a Month at no extra cost that’s 18,000 Free 8 Megapixels worth of images
Let’s put it another way 8 Megapixels isn’t a fair number so, let’s divide it by 24 Megapixels a fairer number
Using simple logic if 4K/8 Megapixels is equal to 24 Credits then it’s fair to say as 24 Megapixels is three times the size of 8 Megapixels then, 24 Megapixels Times 3 is the equivalent of 72 Credits
8 MP × 3 = 24 MP / 24 Credits × 3 = 72 Credits
300 ÷ 72 Credits = 4.1 minutes of Video Rendering
So, using my simple math:
24fps × 60 seconds × 4.1 minutes which equates to 5,904 Video Frames at 24 Megapixels per Frame
Therefore, if 72 Frames were equal to a 24 Megapixels Image then, for your Free, 300 Credits a Month you are Rendering the equivalent of 5,904 images a Month at no extra cost that’s still 5,904 Free 24 Megapixels worth of images
So, going by my simple equation Founder Members are receiving 300 Video Credits a Month for Free which one could argue is the same as Rendering either 18,000 Images at 8 Megapixels or 5,904 Images at 24 Megapixels
Let’s also, remind ourselves those 300 Credits are on top of all the other benefits Founder Member receive including all the applications Topaz currently produce plus Unlimited Image Rendering, Pro models including Local Rendering all for a an incredible locked in price for as long as you maintain your Auto-Renewal Subscription
I find it ludicrous how someone can say they are being unfairly treated by Topaz when in fact this is an incredible deal we have and Topaz has gone out of their way with their generosity
If they had given us even half of what they have done for us then, that would still have been a good deal for the Subscription we are paying.
But, there’s always people who want more, more, more.
Image processing is unlimited for users who certain subscription plans. Video files are very different when it comes to processing in the cloud and require a lot more processing time and resources to run.
Even a short video has several thousand frames, unlimited video upscaling would immediately lead to full utilization of the server farm, which would have to be expanded, and the costs for new Servers would have to be paid by the customers—who else would pay?
The only thing that might speak in favor of this is that the price per frame would decrease slightly, since a larger server farm might be cheaper per CPU power than a small one, but that won’t make a very huge difference.
As I wrote above, I see the problem with unlimited service as being that there will always be people who exploit it excessively, creating maximum utilization, and this costs must then be passed on all customers with result the subscription price rise
