Topaz Video AI

I have been use Topaz products for about 3 years and continue to be impressed with the results. I started using Gigapixel AI to enhance photos and made a request about an issue I was facing and you sent out a patch for it the same day! So I thought I would try again with a problem that I run into from time to time when using Topaz Video AI.

Why does a process have to finish in order for it to work? Today, I tried to convert a 1080p video to 4K. It gave a time of 6 hours, this is with an Nvidia Quadro P5000 which isn’t the top of the line but it is affordable for me to because I rent a PC that gives me access to this GPU. The issue I’m running into is that this virtual PC that I use, doesn’t allow users to be idle very long without shutting down the computer. So today, I have a 10.6 GB partially processed video that I had processing for 6 hours and don’t have a second of video to save. I have to start all over. Isn’t there a way that the processing can save after x amount of time so that if a project isn’t able to finish, some of it can be salvaged and I don’t have to start from scratch each time?

I do break up things as much as possible and try to create three 2 hour processes versus one 6 hour process but sometimes I have no choice. Plus breaking it up and then using a video editor to piece it all together again can be time consuming and a lot of extra work with a reduction in quality.

I know nothing about coding and how your software works so I don’t know if anything like this is possible but thought I’d thought I would throw it out there. Thanks

You will need to ensure that the following three options are turned on to have the pause feature available.

File>Preferences>Crash Recovery

Or what you can do is cutting the video in two or more segments to get shorter, for example with free Avidemux, that can cut on keyframes without re-encode
