Topaz Video AI v4.0.0

Wish I could tell you, ironically, I don’t update through the program I download through my browser, as the update process freezes on the “deleting shortcuts” uninstallation dialogue on my PC, so I’m forced to use window’s uninstall troubleshooter in order to uninstall the prog! :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I’d check that machine first with HWINFO64 and make sure that you are not getting any WHEA errors.
If you are you’d need to play with and check your bios settings.
I had your kind of problem a few years back and it took 2 days of head scratching before I worked out it was one simple bios setting causing me problems, this was with a 3950X and a ASUS Board.

On a side note I’m now on a 5950X, RTX 4070, 64GB PC3600 with a ProArt X570-creator motherboard and that ProArt was well worth the spend over the Gigabyte I had.

I’m able to run a the 4070 at 2790mhz (Card spec is 2475Mhz)
The 5950X has a all core boost at 4500MHz and averages around 67c for most video work except when encoding cli svt-av1 when it will hit 85c max.

Feel free to DM me if you need any advice.

Thank you for your reply.
About your comment relating to load any video, I very much would like to see load any video to the export queue added to the resurrected live preview. Since now if you close out TVA you have to re-render to do a comparison. However for me I think I may roll back to the previous version until the live preview returns as I rely heavily on that feature.

I don’t understand this statement. ffmpeg works perfectly fine when being controlled by other applications. ffmpeg is under the hood of many video editors.

Hi… I have a question. When Themis is selected with another model (for example Nyx), what is applied first, nyx (or the other models) or themis?

Im getting this too now, just red-cross stops after a few hours of processing AND removes the directory with the exported images, everything gone! please ! this is a high prio fix.

Which leads to this issue also: If I deinterlace into the double frame rate, the export frame number needs to be doubled internally when rendering, this is a bug. which prevents me from running this in stages.

The RTX 30350 is not really a powerful GPU. And then, if you render to an SSD instead of a HD, saving straight to the storage wouldn’t have any significant impact.

For a new release, just click the “Release Notes” link and download the update file from there. Then, run that file directly to install the new release, it will install over the top of the current one and close it first, if necessary. No need to uninstall the current version separately.

On my 1Gb connection, I got up to 700 Mbps download speed just now doing it that way. But when I clicked on the update link inside the program, it downloaded at… 21 Mbps.

It’s been like this for months though tonight was an extreme example. Just one of the many bugs or issues with TVAI or the servers. They need to re-focus on the little things that matter, before attempting (and often failing) to add new features bug-free.

I expect to have to revert to 3.5.4 by the way, in view of the critical comments in this thread but that’s just as quick, so no problem.

Speed is improved on M1 max on problem is shuttering during rendering and preview. waiting for next update for fixes

You know what’s fun? Besides the freezing or crashing, and not even the fact that v4 is causing my GPU to nearly overheat reaching 79C on a clip that’s under 2min? Finding artifacts like these in the final video:

Yeah the Dumpside of MS $ DEVOPS KANBAN with SCRUM and PO this new way of working is completely flawed And only and only results in sprints and results in low quality and endless meetings that managers like for checkboxing but has no added value and brings good programming to a halt it only works for apps with each sprint a miniscule change with a large amount of programmers for very large companies that have outsourced it to a cheap location somewhere on the planet.

What do you feel are the main advantages of 3.3.11 over later v3 versions please?

(Edit - Actually I now see the releases thread jumps from 3.3.10 to 3.4.0, so was 11 a beta-only release?)

I have Nvidia 1050Ti 4gb and it struggles to fit FullHD video into VRAM.
Apollo or Chronos FullHD are throwing errors and don’t work at all.
Too few VRAM, unfortunately.

That’s strange, I have no problems downloading models. My 100mbit link is utilized to the top.
Maybe with 1Gbit link I’d noticed the difference though.

Try flowframes with RIFE model… think 4GB will work. No guarantee though

How do I revert back to the last working version? I miss the ease of use , I dont have time right now to re-learn and this new interface is confusing.

Very bad version! 5x drop in processing speed?

I envy the people who have this program running. Every time I try to export a short video file, my laptop makes a lot of noise and shuts down because of a heat spike.
Although I successfully work with large files in several other programs at the same time. I tried closing all other software and changing the memory usage to 80% in preferences and got a processing time of 9.5 hours :sob:.
Is there a chance in the future to work in this program using fewer resources?

this software is now unusable for me and it hasn’t even been a year since purchasing it. it wont even install because of some error about avv2?

You can turn the memory usage down more and maybe use less resources, but the time it takes will go up.
As stated before by several people, TVAI is nothing like any other video processing program. It is much harder to run. Most laptops aren’t built to be able to cool the hardware enough to handle running it—and when they can, it’s really slow because of all the power saving decisions made when creating the laptop hardware.
