i did not run it with 4.1.2 i just mention in similar cases in the past the output of the older tvai was quite superior to this beta thats all. i unistalled 4.1.2 once i updated my license.
Installing the TVAI 6.0.0.1 OFX plug-in causes DaVinci Resolve Studio 19.1.1 to crash.
Deleting the Topaz Video AI Beta.ofx.bundle folder will allow DaVinci Resolve Studio 19.1.1 to start normally.
This problem has existed since TVAI 5.4 and shows no signs of being fixed.
Sadly, competition still sucks. I tried out neoFootage A.i and AVCLabs Video Enhancer AI. Both are inferior to TVAI. Don’t go make victory lapses yet, Topaz, as the mere fact that customers are beginning to shop for other products, should have you worried. Especially with the ongoing VFR bug, that seems to get a whole lot less attention than the new GUI or Cloud Rendering.
After updating to version 6.0.0.1.b, the program has gone completely haywire for me. When adding a new video to create the timeline, it now uses 100% of my CPU by launching ffmpeg three times. Bravo, Topaz… Are you sure this is even a beta?
I’m seriously starting to question why I recently renewed my license. How can you develop something so completely out of touch with your users?
P.S. Just to make sure, a complete reinstallation using a fresh client didn’t resolve this issue (one of many by now).
7). When running from the CLI and not logged in, the process is not halted for user’s okay to continue.
Expected result should be something similar to when you try to write over an existing file.

The wording would be something like, TVAI is in trial mode and the output will be watermarked, continue? [y/n]
The hope in this approach is that the user can log in, then enter y for continue, but since they just logged in, it will re-evaluate if it’s supposed to be in trial mode and find that it should not be. Therefore processing the video without a watermark.
Another solution could be to add a boolean parameter to all the tvai filters along the lines of process-if-in-trial-mode. Then the CLI user can decide what to do programmatically.
Seems like Topaz marketing department took over the company and has no idea what’s important. If the program doesn’t work properly, it doesn’t matter what the UI looks like.
Apart of the TEMP wipe bug and the preview file location bug, I’ll reupload the example of why is the ‘duplicate frame removal/interpolation’ function not working as it should:
Dungeons & Dragons Episode 14 The Girl who Dreamed Tomorrow_aion1_prob4_TVAI-5.3.6.zip (43.3 MB) - this is how it should work. Cartoons or animated productions often have one drawn frame every second one.
Dungeons & Dragons Episode 14 The Girl who Dreamed Tomorrow_1_aion1_prob4_TVAI-5.5.0.5b.zip (57.6 MB) - this happens since TVAI v5.4 until v6.0.0.1b, that’s why I didn’t update the ‘stable’ version so far.
There’s also interesting thing I’ve noticed - the quality of the ‘live’ render preview seems to be better, than the pre-rendered preview one. I wonder, what’s the difference under the hood? And which rendering routine is selected for the export?
‘Old style’ preview queue doesn’t seem to have any list of ongoing or finished video clips in v6. ![]()
got the update. tried Rhea model on an old music video that was never remastered (officially at least) take it from 480P to 1080P and 60 FPS. the end result is, every time the camera zooms out, an AI acid trip. this did not happened on old versions/models and i dont believe its just because its a “beta” version this model issues arrives. plus it does not look AI upscaled the result looks like a plain old regular upscaler quite pixelated and blurry. every new tvai version from 6 comes out worse in my opinion. you see it for yourself if you dont trust my feedback.
Hilary Duff - Fly (official Video) Remastered
I haven’t seen the “AI acid trip,” but it does appear to me that Rhea in the beta does not produce the same level of sharpness and detail that it does in release versions.
I despise the UI and no, I haven’t really been able to test it out because of THIS! ⇒
Here’s what it looks like due to this bloody UI whenever I start the bleedin’ program! ⇒
It’s beyond infuriating that this program is non-functional for me, also, what would be of immeasurable help for this company is if they had testers that are specifically familiar with the code as well as having the main public (Us!) test for bugs that would have made it past the professional testers, as that would alleviate a lot of issues!
Which is why it seems that nearly every beta they’re re-making the program from scratch instead of building upon a functional program as nearly every beta is nothing but bugs and lost program functions from past alphas/betas, and yet another useless UI feature rather than on the models that are the distinguishing characteristics of the actual program!
The UI can go die in a fire for all I care! >8^(
Sorry about the rant, it’s pure angry bias on my part due to the current state of the program’s UI on my system, but it’s still highly infuriating having to pay annually, hundreds of dollars AFTER the purchase of a program costing hundreds of dollars that I can’t even use!
Yes, I previously brought this up with Tony (Thanks a lot, Tony, you’re golden!) but the development teams are having a hard time trying to nail down what the issue is for some people, as the program has been s+++ for me and other unlucky bastards ever since Alpha 5.4.0.7.a!
This bloody UI should have never made it past the alpha stage, **but it seemed as it was rushed out, most likely due to the hunt for profits by the marketing Dept! ⇐ **Admittedly pure speculation on my part due to my current negative bias, and not based on fact…
So I have to rely on the last beta before they introduced mvp into the UI, as the program is non-functional for me because some idiot plugin/codec/program/process on my bloody system won’t play nice with this bleedin’ UI that nobody asked for!
— Rant over, I’m going to upload the logs via PM to Tony while still hunting for a solution, which I have yet to find, so I’m currently uninstalling every media codec/player/video editing/encoding program that I have on my system!
dont do all that unistall. just try the k-lite media codec pack, the mega version (most codecs) and the UI try unistalling all topaz app versions and reinstall just the beta versions. as well try the dark mode on windows maybe its an issue with the light theme?
I haven’t installed a k-lite codec pack since, what, Windows 95? I strongly recommend against doing so. Those codec packs are usually a gateway to an even bigger hell. YMMV.
i have used it since 2015 since xp and have no issues whatsoever but you do you. unistall half of the programs in your os. like that does no damage…
I will do no such thing.
I will simply wait for Topaz to do their own homework, and fix their own sh*t.
that seems more logical ![]()
Thanks for the suggestion, but I go the dark mode route whenever possible for all progs forever and ever, amen! :^)
I’ll try K-lite though the CommunityCodecPack is more recent, in either case I usually default to shark’s portable codec tool, I’m guessing that both K-Lite/CCP will work alongside it!
Thanks again for the suggestion, Oh I also use stardock’s windows enhancement progs, so I’ll have to disable them and their processes as well!
the stardock theme program does deep mess with windows themes. i used to have them untill i realize i dont care anymore for windows themes and less i see them less i care ![]()
I recently jokingly said “Updating TVAI has become the process of figuring out which version best to revert to.” (It’s v5.3.6, btw). Seriously, though, while I am still sitting on a working version now, I have now effectively skipped the entire v5.4 - v6 line, for being horrendously broken. Honesty, I get the idea behind “Topaz Video Ai v6: The Seach For More Money,” but this is getting a bit ridiculous. High time the devs exercise some control over their Marketing Department, and get things done properly.
Indeed, the death of innovation/progress with a company is usually tied to the responsibility of upper management/CEO/marketing/god-cursed legal gambl* um… investors and their thirst for profit, when profit takes precedence over a company’s quality and functionality!
I mean really, if Davinci resolve, Videoproc, (A video downloader/AI interpolating/upscaler/stabiliser) and Affinity photo can do it, Topaz Labs surely can; even RIFE doesn’t hold a candle to Topaz’s interpolation models as the artefacts from RIFE are pretty ugly, at least to my eyes anyway…
But to be fair, RIFE is good at what it does for the method that it uses, as it doesn’t NEED an always-online component to function, nor Videoproc, as both use local methods much like with Topaz, which is far preferable than relying on an external utility such as the (too bloody expensive for the individual buyer) cloud!
Which is why this incessant fumbling about with the bloody UI is so frustrating, as they’re just sitting on incredible tech while wasting their entire efforts on that bloody, UI instead of perfecting the tech they already have! :^\
While I’m all for profit to support the ongoing survival of a company, there is a line, I mean if the price to the consumer goes up well past the prog’s stagnating innovation/progress, then a consumer no longer needs to buy your program in the first place!
Just look to affinity photo, Davinci resolve, and even Videoproc, as the perfect examples, as they’re doing quite fine with their business model that doesn’t rely on profits over innovation/progress, so let’s just hope this company **doesn’t go the “public/adobe route” or all is lost!
I love what this company is doing with the tech as it’s pretty unique to offer such power and tech locally, which is why I’ve paid well over $600 over the years, not including the initial price of the prog!
That is, up until the point another company does the same, but with consistent and ongoing innovation for the models, AND NOT THE BLOODY UI, as well as no annual fee for minor, (and not major) updates to the program!
EDIT: I know the cloud is optional right now, and not a part of the default to run the program… yet…
Yeah, it looks like I’ll be hunting for an alternative, as a few of those progs are pretty buggy, but the relentlessly bland default metro theme is really irritating to look at! x^D
I miss win 7…
