Topaz Video AI Beta 7.0.0.4.b (Starlight Mini -- Local + Cloud)

Hello everyone!

We’re continuing to make major updates to the Starlight Mini experience and the model leading up to our launch of Video AI 7.

Keep reading to see what’s new in this release:

Starlight Mini Updates

Starlight Mini in the Cloud

Now everyone can access this model for the launch of Video 7, even if they can’t run it locally yet.

Starlight Mini is also roughly 3x cheaper and 4x faster than the original version of Starlight to render in the cloud!

There’s more to come on Starlight Mini compatibility with other platforms for local rendering. Our team is working hard to make this model available to as many people as possible in future releases.

Improved Starlight Resolution Controls

Starlight Mini local now shows different options for resolution output from the model based on the size of the input video:

Starlight Mini Memory Management

Based on your feedback we’ve made some optimizations to memory usage for the Starlight Mini model.

Starlight Mini will now respect the max GPU memory settings you have in preferences as a percentage of total available VRAM:

Other Updates

Crash Fixes for Mac: We resolved a crash that was happening on the Mac platforms with the latest release. This is also fixed in our patch update earlier this week.

That’s cool, if it can be a little faster than beta 1 with my rtx 3060 ti, that’s not bad

Looking forward to Starlight Mini to be used locally on Apple M1 Max. In the meantime, I’ll checkout out the Starlight Mini Cloud version.

Dang I was hoping for quicker than .04 speed with my 4090.
Great results with SD.

Is the Custom Resolution option eliminated for future updates?
Custom option seems to be gone in this update.

It may not matter, but the system check before downloading Starlight Mini said I’m running Window 10, but I’m actually running Windows 11…

Okay, strange. Videos in a resolution 720p or 1080p works. Lower resolutions like 480p or less dont work for me. I get a instant error.

I didn’t get a system check with this version. I wonder, would you know if I should uninstall each version and do clean installs every time a new beta version comes out? Thanks

It works for me.

What resolution did you try?

I tried both 1080P and 4K. Are you on Apple M1 Max? I’m only able to do it via cloud. Starlight Mini is def. better in terms of speed and cost via Cloud. I do notice the anti-aliasing and moire removal isn’t as good as regular Starlight, but the motion consistency is def. a lot better with slowmo video on Starlight Mini compared to regular Starlight. But in all honesty, Starlight Mini doesn’t look that much different to Artemis LQ for my source videos. Need to do more testing though.

It’s pulling the Windows NT version string, probably said something like 10.0.22631 or 10.0.26100. That is Windows 11, but Windows 11 is still NT 10.0

You should check the models folder for the Topaz Video AI Beta and delete its contents. When I did a clean install/checked the box to remove existing models, it left some contents remaining including the Astra(Starlight) model folder. I deleted the models folder, installed again and then it did the system check and downloaded Starlight-mini

Can you share the error or your logs here?

Same - would you mind sharing your error or logs here?

Thank you!

Makes sense, in a non-intuitive way. Seems like it should transliterate and not display something the user doesn’t expect?
