Topaz Video AI Beta 7.0.0.1.b (Starlight mini)

I just downloaded the TVAI 7 Beta and wanted to try it in DEMO mode. But I cannot get past the login screen.
It says in the browser that you can now safely close this TAB. But when I get back to the app it still says, Activate or Try the Demo.

I am unable to get past that.

I paid for the licenses up until version 4, then stopped as I found it was not worth it. Seeing the feedback on the version 7 I want to try it, so if it is worth I can get a license.

But the start itself seems an issue.

Yeah, I renamed the video abc.mp4 when I read the message.

Then it could be a problem with RTX 5x gpus

I get error messages when trying to export in Starlight. Also, each time that I close and go back
in, it downloads the model again

Error with RTX 4090

Driver = 576.02-desktop-win10-win11-64bit-international-nsd-dch-whql

Quit does not work when exiting the software. ← did work again.

Whats a single byte name?

When i rename my video to “1” TVAI starts processing with Starlight mini but stops with an error again.

Missed opportunity to name it something slightly more cringy: Star-lite. :stuck_out_tongue:

Seems to be working so far on my 3080ti. It actually uses all the VRAM and is running at 0.1fps—or that’s just the lowest number it will report.

0.1 fps but be happy it’s working! I don’t know if it’s running on my computer I can’t wait to test it after work :slightly_smiling_face:

Great to see that there’s finally a new version again! I’m currently testing out the new Starlight Mini model.

On my system with a 7800X3D, 4090, and 64 GB RAM, I’m getting a stable 0.6 frames per second when upscaling a video from 240x180 to 960x720. Thats slow
EDIT: Okay, the output file has the resolution: 1280 x 960. Why?..
EDIT2: and has no sound.

The results are actually quite promising. However, I’m missing a preview option in the new model.
I also need an explanation of what exactly “reimport export as source” means.

50 minutes for a 30 second clip. Best of luck.

seems to be 960p is the lowest resolution Starlight Mini can do, no upscale set leads also to this resolution

So, having a second computer for 24h/day longtime rendering becomes more important

Looks like it is possible to run Starlight mini in the CLI, but I have no idea how to do it just yet. The ‘Show export command’ shows a command that doesn’t work.

This will take some additional work to support, but yes CLI is planned

“Reimport export as source” is a toggle that automatically imports the Starlight mini output as a new input in Video AI. This allows users to apply Frame Interpolation or other filters after completing the initial pass with Starlight mini.

I’m wondering how useful a timesaver that is when your first pass runs at under 1 fps.

Would you want to re-do the first pass each time because you ended up not liking the slow motion results instead?

Hello Tony

Can I get some workaround to try this?

Hi @Dilson, Topaz Video AI beta releases are now open betas available to all users with active licenses.

When Video AI 7 is fully released, you will be able to test the new version in demo mode.

(This is specific to some Starlight mini changes, future betas should run trial mode normally)
