Hello everyone,

Today we are publishing a new beta update to Video AI, version 6.0.2.0.b.

6.0.2.0.b

  • Renamed focus fix tooltip to match buttons.
  • Enabled “Enhancement” filter in UI when output resolution is set to “Custom”.
  • Davinci Resolve frame interpolation plugin speed improvements.
  • Fixed naming of duplicate tab in tab options.
  • Fixed missing icon for tab option.
  • Changed adjust exposure slider under HDR filter to match tooltip.
  • Improved Davinci Resolve plugin installation.
  • Prevent preset tab from setting audio setting to none by default.
  • Make Zoom % change when scrolling on Fit zoom.

Known issues:

  • Enabling “force CFR” option will potentially cause issues in the exported videos such as duplicate frames, missing frames, or frames in wrong order.

Can there be a “stop processing” button for preview renders? In the previous AI we could shut preview renders down by deleting them, but that doesn’t seem to be possible anymore.

When the Davinci Resolve plugin from TVAI 6.0.2.0b is installed in DaVinci Resolve Studio 19.1.2, Davinci Resolve Studio will terminate abnormally.
If the Davinci Resolve plugin is disabled, DaVinci Resolve Studio 19.1.2 will start normally.
No Davinci Resolve plugin log is output.
The environment is OS Windows 11 23H2, CPU i5-12400, GPU RTX 3060 12GB

Nonfunctional on M2 MacBook Air, 26GB, 2TB, MacOS 15.2, all updates.

Installed from both the .pkg and the .dmg. Both installations claimed to have finished normally. Both: When attempting to open a video file, all video files were greyed-out and none could be selected to open. Clicked “Cancel” in ‘open’ dialog box to return to program. Selected Quit - both installations crashed, generated bug report for Apple.

:slightly_frowning_face:

Do not let @meimeiriver see this update

OK, I give up, where is the “Force CFR” option, I haven’t been able to find it yet.

And count that as blessing, as it’s a crap stop-gap measure that solves nothing.

Why not? VFR is not fixed yet, I saw; but will you believe when I say this didn’t come as a shock?

I believe the app is stopping the processing when I click “pause” in the real-time playback processing, but with the traditional one there’s, indeed, no “stop” button.

I’m getting the Topaz watermark. Maybe my beta license has to be renewed ?

This beta still has the TEMP wipe regression bug.

Yes. I’m not using live render for my previews.

As a key, REALLY focus on your custom ffmpeg.

The more I study it, the more I find incredible errors in it.

So instead of adding tons of useless patches, go for a clean ffmpeg build and proper codec management. There are absolutely no codecs that work properly!

It’s remarkable how you modified AND screwed them up…

I agree, also the speed of conversions seems to slow with every patch…this on Mac (even on M4 Pro) and on my Pc (with 4090 Nvidia)…

I really do appreciate a lot of what you guys have done with some of the new models like Rhea and trying to push it further with XL …

That said, I think this whole thing with the versions we’ve been given over the past few months that eitrher flat-out don’t work at all or give us outputs that are unusable (See VFR not being fixed for Months)

… I wouldn’t normally say this in “public” but i think that the active beta testers at the very least deserve some kind of extension to our licenses. We’ve been putting hours on top of hours into testing all these versions, providiing feedback as much as possible (hey, can’t do anything if it doesn’t work at all except send you guys the logs) and we’re losing our asses on electricity and time and projects that we’re now way behind on because not only are the new beta versions totally unusable because of these massive flaws (come on with the VFR bs) … but the actual releases have the same flaws… I was without a working version until downgrading for a while… This is just insane how much time I’ve lost on this program lately.

I think it would be a good gesture to extend licenses 6-12 months for the people putting in the work for you guys to make this program succeed.

I full agree for crediting 6 months of license, as we are in a 6 months of chaos situation.

We do not benefit of improvements. We at contrary get problems

Betas and even more RC are not more usable, so with very few users returns as we are are stuck with 5.3.6, that has already a huge amount of problems
At least concern FFV1, H265 and AV1, that you ruined with ffmpeg tweaks with some specific scenarios

I agree. Unfortunately the video department of Topaz does not care about their beta testers anymore. They even told me that everyone can be a “beta tester” now and suggested me to sign up for the christmas holiday sale instead. That’s a slap into the face for those who put so much time and effort into Topaz’s product including the needed hardware and the steep electricity bill. :pensive:

There’s an issue with FFV1 in 5.3.6? I’ve been using FFV1 and haven’t noticed anything out of the ordinary. Is there something I should be on the look for aside from some metadata shenanigans?

There are so few changes between the last beta of a new build and the release version that follows it that the primary benefit of beta access is now the ability to run two versions of the program on the same system, the latest available one and the last one that actually worked for you.

It’s genuinely fucking stupid from a purely business standpoint. So much turnover at this company and they don’t have ears to ground or their eyes on the ball. It’s all about trying to find ways to make a lot more money a lot more quickly while winging it and

degrading the software while calling it progress.
