Topaz Video AI 6.2.1 + 6.2.2

6.2.1 using Rhea reports error upon exporting videos, uninstalling & installing 6.2.0 works fine. RTX 3080 Windows with plenty of RAM & hard drive space.

Heads up - an update with version 6.2.2 was just released to fix some crash issues on Mac platforms. Please see the updated build links in the post above. We’ll also be releasing this version again to the auto updater.

Noting that there are also minor changes for the Windows versions which fixes some login flow issues.

Edit: Please disregard. After reopening Video AI 6.2.2, I see that the Project Starlight preview button has returned. Don’t know what happened, but sorry for any confusion caused by my query…

Just came down to send of a clip to the Project Starlight preview, and saw that 6.2.2 was available for download, so I installed it.

Opening it up, I see that the Project Starlight preview is no longer available, at least in my installation. Would’ve been nice to be notified of this change!

I still have errors with Model Manager. I can’t download Stabilization Models. I always obtein the same error: “Error: Connection Handling Cancelled”. WIth or without VPN.
The same with Enhancement Models, but here I can complete the download after 3 or 4 attempts. With Stabilization Models is imposible

Seems to work well. But I have a small complaint that has been going on for a number of versions now. I’d say since v3 or v4. Each time the software is updated, it never completely removes the registry traces of older versions. Here’s an example:
Screenshot from Revo Uninstaller software.

I have to delete them manually every time. It’s easy to do, but it’s just annoying because if I don’t do it, the list of old versions accumulates.

Also, for some reason, it only detects 2-3 installed models in its list, whereas I have absolutely all models (in their latest versions) installed. Even though they’re on another disk.

I think it’s a visual bug because I know to use them normally by selecting them to do my tests on videos.

Some videos get wrong FPS and bitrate every single time. No idea why. Lets say I have 10 videos and its always the same two videos that has the issue. No matter which order i do them in or whatever.

This version does not work. It says Driver Error and says NVidia version is not compatible.
I downgraded to 6.1 and it is working. This is very frustrating.
Please dont install this version.

  • Try changing the output resolution, bitrate or encoder.

  • Please update Nvidia driver. Driver does not support the required nvenc API version. Required: 13.0 Found: 12.2.

NVENC doesn’t seem to be working in TVAI 7 betas on 3090 with the 576.02 Studio driver on Win10 while using Starlight Mini model for some reason. I hope that didn’t cripple the stable version somehow, but could we ask for software x264/x265 compression option just in case?

I would like to mention that the difference in quality and file size between “low” and “medium” for h265 is too big. an entire movie encoded in “medium” is around 7+ GB but in “low” it is around 2+ GB.
