Topaz Video AI 5.3.5 - 5.3.6

I am on a M1 Studio Ultra. Never had any issues using ProRes exports in PP, AE or PS. Have you ruled out any issues with ACC on your system?

Simple, I went into the settings, and although the correct path was specified for the ā€˜Workspaces folder,’ I selected the path again… It’s a workaround, but the issue persists with anything related to cropping. What’s worse is that for files where you apply cropping, the aspect ratio and actual dimensions are no longer preserved in the preview, especially for files where you apply ā€˜interlaced progressive’ models.

Hello! Please tell me if there are any updates planned in the coming releases:
New mpv video player.
Hyperion SDR-to-HDR model.
Rhea v2.
Is it a matter of long times?
And are you planning to introduce Proteus and Aion? Please provide at least some truthful answer. Thanks!

Actually, not sure why, but just to confirm, it’s no longer starting me in Trial mode.

Hello!
5.4.0 is the date you are looking for, which goes live November 12th (beta the 5th)
MPV Video Player is planned for 5.4.0
Hyperion + Rhea XL (not v2) goes into public beta with new versions at the same time, v5.4.0

We plan to fully release these models by end of 2024.

We’re experiencing a brightness difference in 5.3.5 compared with our current version 4.1.1.

I assume this is related to the FFMPEG command, but not sure? Can anyone help us out here? Thank you!

Good news! Wonderfully! Thanks!

It used to work fine until version 5.0. What ACC issue are you referring to? People have previously suggested the issue may be audio related (AAC), but I’ve tried all combinations, including no audio.

Importantly, files from 5.3.5 do play from the Finder and import into DaVinci Resolve, whereas they didn’t in previous exports of 5.x. So there was something new introduced in 5.x files that still trips Adobe’s import for me.

I’m on macOS 14.6.1.

I am on MacOS 14.6.1 as well.
For ACC I use PP, AE and PS all latest 2025 versions. Still on TVAI 5.3.1.

Have been using ProRes 4444, 422HQ and LT for export. Like I said, no issues - I can remember - importing in any of the ACC software (25, 24 and 23, I think I’ve been using TVAI since version 1.8). If any import issues would arise in PP - to my best knowledge - the app normally informs you about the details of the issue.

All and all: if video plays fine in finder and DaVinci…my current best bet is, the issue is somewhere in ACC.
I reckon you use a legit copy, right no cracked versions? Did you do a complete install of the apps (so uninstall them first) in ACC? Did you try Media Encoder as well?

More conservative approach to rule out other issues (perhaps best to do before the uninstall):

  • Export job in TVAI finishes without any issues?

  • You’ve probably checked that a ProRes file (A) NOT from TVAI works fine in PP? If so, use this file to do a (small) transfer (B) in TVAI (any model)…and import A and B in PP or any other ACC app?

  • Did you try the ā€œconvertā€ option (final option) for audio, I think should do PCM audio? Check specs on file after job, check in Quicktime or similar.

  • Contact Adobe Help?

Just noticed that Video AI got a shoutout on NVIDIA’s blog as such:

ā€œTopaz Labs has introduced a new plug-in for Adobe After Effects, a video enhancement software that uses AI models to improve video quality. This gives users access to enhancement and motion deblur models for sharper, clearer video quality. Accelerated on GeForce RTX GPUs, these models run nearly 2.5x faster on the GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU compared with the MacBook Pro M3 Max.ā€

It’s not just you… For me now nothing changes in the preview, and the playback head jumps around. I tried setting the work directory as mentioned. It is unusable in this state, so I need to downgrade again. After just purchasing this at the elevated $300, and encountering the registration at every launch error, then downgrading, then being prompted at each launch to upgrade to the broken version and the ā€œsleep untilā€ for upgrade prompt being ignored, then upgrading wiping out my presets and not showing any preview… boy do I regret my purchase. This experience just at the beginning of using the software shows a serious lack of quality control and release testing…

I’m not able to copy/paste settings from one source to another. It still works in the 5.3.5 beta, but not the release.

Repeated all instructions posted here and V5.3.5 is still not working. It opens and after importing a video, nothing happens. No play, no scrubbing, nothing. Are there previous versions still available as these work arounds are not working.

I installed 5.3.5 but had no choice but to revert back to 5.3.3. This is because on my system the preview function is still broken, altho a bit differently than in 5.3.4. Preview does not functionally work as there is no display of loaded video. I cannot move around on the time line or set in or out points. Intermittently, 5.3.5 will just crash with a dump while attempting to navigate in preview. However, the authentication process at least appears to be fixed.

I am running on Macbook Pro with M1 Max and 64gb of memory, Mac OS Sonoma 14.7 (23H124).

Reinstalling 5.3.3, everything works as you would expect.

Topaz, please, please do a BETTER JOB OF QA on these versions before you release them! The bugs we are seeing in 5.3.4 and 5.3.5 should have been caught and fixed before this was released to customers especially given the maturity of this product.

Customers deserve an explanation from Topaz about why you are releasing such buggy code, and what you are doing about it to fix the problem.

Did they apply for a position at Topaz?

We didn’t discussed it, if Topaz want, they can wrote to him

That’s not how hiring works. If someone wants employment they have to apply. Topaz isn’t going to start randomly soliciting people.

I’m experiencing an issue updating to Topaz Video AI versions 5.3.4 and 5.3.5. Upon opening the program, I was prompted to download the latest update. Following the usual process, I clicked the ā€œDOWNLOAD UPDATEā€ button in the upper right corner. The installer began, requesting the usual confirmations—end user agreement, installation directory, closing of the running program, and permissions. However, during installation, I encountered an unusual prompt saying, ā€œthe specified account already exists.ā€ When I proceeded, the update failed, and a message appeared stating:

ā€œTopaz Video AI Setup Wizard ended prematurely due to an error. Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, run Setup Wizard again. Click the Finish button to exit the Setup Wizard.ā€

While most software allows a straightforward, external download, Topaz Video AI requires updates directly within the program, creating a repetitive and time-consuming process if an error arises.

Given how rapidly AI technology evolves, staying up-to-date is critical. However, the repetitive nature of these updates and the constant issues encountered are becoming impractical. If a reliable update process can’t be ensured, I will likely need to consider alternative software when my membership period ends.

I tried reinstalling my Adobe Apps and unfortunately no change. With 5.3.5 I can’t even scrub through a video by clicking on the timeline, it never updates. I reloaded 5.0.3 and that can scrub, and export H.264s, but not ProRes. And of course version 4.2.2 continues to creates ProRes files that Adobe products can import.
