Is it normal that v5 creates bitrate 2x higher using the same preset from v4.2.2? and the final file is 2x the size.
Is the preview function still messed up, Iām still in version 3 and I would like to know before my license expires again. Getting tired of my annual license being wasted again for lack of a stable version.

They took a break and went from 4.2 to 5. I wish they took more breaks so it wouldnāt keep being these small changes. That way, there could be bigger updates.
I never update often, and for that reason, thereās no need to with every small update. The last version I used was 3.4.

I think the combination of Iris and Nyx 3 is producing some really nice results on SD footage. Iām still getting used to the new interface but testing with familiar material to best assess the new version. I only use the standalone app, but so far so good !

I have a suggestion. Instead of using an MKV container for your previews, how about buffering the frames to a ram buffer. Memory is cheap and you can store 250 jpegs at 4k in 1GB of memory. Thatās enough for 2 seconds of preview in the software. That might solve your temp file problems with previews and probably the studdering issue, too.

I disagree, the old one looks like something from the 80ās. I like the clean look.

I think the settings used depend on the footage. My project is with SD camcorder footage (VHS) professionally transferred (TBC). Iām using a MacStudio.
Today I used a deinterlaced source (hybrid); then a 4x upscale; changed the output to Square pixels using Iris MQ in relative to auto ( some minor adjustments). Then a second enhancement with Nyx HQ set to manual ( I tried the āestimateā setting). It will take many hours to render, but from some spot checks seems to be the best Iāve seen with this combo ( I tried before with older Iris MQ and didnāt like the results, but the new one is much nicer, and I canāt seem to replicate what it does with Proteus). Nyx 3 seems much better. Iāve been tinkering far too much with VEAI since getting it in 2021. It has definitely got better. Iāve tried with interlaced footage too and that is now better, but I prefer the Selur Hybrid QTMGC deinterlacing as itās cleaner with less combing. VEAI uses something else. Also I donāt use the filters in Hybrid as they soften too much. Hope that answers your question.

Hey can you send the logs that were generated from crashed projects. I will investigate what is going on, havenāt been able to replicate the behavior so far.
One caveat, the rendering is very slow with this combo of Iris and Nyx (0.9 fps). I also think the automated settings can yield good results if you donāt want to spend hours tweaking, the danger with this program.
I really wish the preview frame was exactly the same frame as the original video when comparing the original and to an enhanced frame. Itās really annoying. I need it to be exact so that I can compare the results. It looks like this has been a bug for quite some time.

While adding presets is VERY much appreciated and will save creators a lot of time I feel, as a person who has multiple setups using the same computer this update is frustrating.
Workspaces is not an uncommon or new thing Lightroom and other applications do the same thing. However, forcing your users to have to adopt this style of editing when the previous version worked fine is unusual and a little short sighted.
Most creators already backup footage in the cloud and a backup drive. Since I have multiple drives, I use different ones at home and at work.
Therefore, I am forced to set my workspaces backup (a backup I donāt need or want) on my systems SSD which I like to keep clean for speed and quick restarts.
I understand the intention but options are what users want and expect for a software at this price range and is multiplatform. I like your product but wish a wider range of users are cared for unlike what is currently being done.
Maybe you could add some kind of profiles system so you could save your hard drive backup based on your setup? Just an idea.

Well, in view of the comments, Iām going to wait until this new major version is more stable before installing this. May all its youthful bugs be eliminated
Trimming Video Bug. When using Trimming video The Audio isnāt trim with it and it will just copy audio of the first part of the video that I rendered. The video itself will trim but not the audio. I am busy with a big project, and wanted to finisch it, by the and of this week. Please fix this A.s.a.p.

I use this for comparing the date of an exported good movie and the date of the preset in this folder i never ever use the menu
i am very happy with the interface it is readable itexture ntuitive and slick
